I just took the Boeing 747 for a freestyle flight around Ingolstadt, Germany. No flight plan, no official route, just flying around to see how the performance holds up.

To be honest, I’m genuinely impressed.

I’m running everything on Ultra, with both Terrain Level of Detail and Building Level of Detail set to 150.

My system consists of an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, 64 GB RAM, a Samsung NVMe M.2 SSD, and an NVIDIA RTX 4060 8 GB. I’m flying at a resolution of 2560×1080.

The FPS are surprisingly consistent. On the ground during takeoff, I’m seeing around 60 to 70 FPS. As I climb higher, it often increases to 80-90 FPS, sometimes even reaching 94 FPS.

Overall, the flight experience is extremely smooth. I do get the occasional small stutter here and there, but nothing serious.

When I test performance, I like to push things to the limit. I fly under extreme conditions and sometimes blast along at full speed just above rooftops to see how the simulator handles worst-case scenarios. I want to know whether performance stays stable or if the FPS start to fall apart.

I also set the weather to the most demanding conditions possible: heavy rain, snow, lightning, basically the full package.

Personally, I have to say that I’m really impressed. Everything feels incredibly smooth and fluid. The simulator has a very “buttery” feel to it overall.

In my opinion, the results are definitely impressive. Performance feels noticeably better than it did in the previous official Sim Update 6 version.

If this level of performance remains after the beta period, it would be an absolute dream.

Flying like this is simply a lot of fun.

All I can say is that Microsoft, Asobo, and everyone else involved are doing a fantastic job. Thank you for all the hard work. I just had to say that.:airplane:

now it would be great if they (finaly) fix the 3d model of it

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that will be addressed sooner or later. I’m not a real pilot myself, so I’d rather leave that kind of testing and debating to the experts. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I only know the basics, but the overall flying experience is just fantastic. The atmosphere is captured so well, especially during sunrise and sunset. I think it’s really awesome that we have something like this.

It is a shame that performance at the handcrafted airports is still subpar (low fps and/or stuttering when looking around), especially in VR. Otherwise, performance is very good!

Getting a lot of stuttering especially when I pan to look behind me in the PMDG 737. I’ve mentioned this before already. I just hope we can iron out those stutters for good someday.

I’m experiencing very high latency during the Air Races, and it’s causing my FPS to drop dramatically. Earlier, I was seeing almost 1000 ms of latency and only 9-20 FPS. The latency fluctuates heavily. Even on very low graphics settings, I was still having performance issues.

Is this currently a server-side issue? Everything else, such as Free Flight and Career Mode, is running fine without any problems.

Edit:

I now seem to be experiencing the same issue even in Free Flight. I’m getting around 15 FPS with approximately 300 ms latency, but both the FPS and latency fluctuate dramatically.

Off topic post was merged into an existing topic: SU6.1 VSYNC + NVIDIA DLSS Framegen Causing Huge Frame Rate Degredation

Vsync as I recal to have read , it limites the FPS to the Monitor refresh rate, half-refresh.
So, if do not want a limitation of max FPS, disable it.

Done a few flights on the latest SU7 beta on PC. POIs no longer super-bright which is nice.

First flight I did was Fenix A320 Copenhagen EKCH (Fly Tampa) to London Heathrow EGLL (inibuilds) and didn’t encounter any issues. Then I took the PMDG 777-300ER from Heathrow EGLL (inibuilds) to Mumbai VABB (default) and back again in a single session (turnaround without ending flight). 18 hours and 40 minutes of flight time and the sim performance and scenery held up well. PC specs in my profile

Only comment I have is that flight plans on the sim EFB don’t seem to be working on the beta

That’s funny, I’ve got so used to seeing the overly bright POIs that I didn’t even notice they had gone :joy:

Ok I take that back - sim EFB flight plan worked on my next flight. Don’t know what happened that first time
