SU7 Beta General Feedback and Discussion Thread

Please use this thread for general feedback and discussion related to the SU7 Beta.

Please do not post bug reports in this thread. If you encounter a bug in the beta, we kindly request that - if there is not already an existing bug topic that describes your issue - you create a new bug report topic (one issue per thread) in the appropriate subsection of the Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 forum:

Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Aircraft & Systems
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > ATC, Traffic & NAVAIDs
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > CTDs
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > External 3rd Party Products
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Hardware
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Install, Performance & Graphics
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Miscellaneous
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Scenery & Airports
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > User Interface & Activities
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Virtual Reality
Sim Update 7 Beta | MSFS 2024 > Weather & Live Weather

Please note that while we understand there may old bugs that still exist from previous versions, there is no need to re-report them, though you can add a comment in the appropriate topic in the Bug Reporting Hub that the issue is still occuring in the SU7 beta.

Anything that isn’t a specific regression will be closed.

Thank you for understanding and cooperation.

May we hope to have, during this beta, a substantial update of the Canadair CL 415 (underperforming ) flight model, please? The " cosmetic change" on the efb could be a sign of Asobo interest on that, I hope!!

Let’s dream!

In the SU6 beta test, the multiplayer servers were shared with SU5, but in the SU7 beta, it seems that SU6 users’ aircraft are not visible.

The shared thing was a one off. Beta players only see other beta players

Pretty much everything that’s wrong with the way beta periods are structured is summed up in that quote, nothing is changing for the better, nothing.

Jorg once said he would be all for a SU mostly devoted to bug fixes, it was done in the past, it should be done again.

Perhaps what they’re saying is that they’re being worked on.

Could you please clarify what kind of discussion is actually expected in this General Feedback thread?

From the guidelines it seems that:

Allowed:

  • General impressions of the beta overall (more stable / worse / about the same)
  • General feeling about performance (without specific bug reports or logs)
  • Opinions on new features introduced in SU7 (for example Air Races, if available)
  • High-level comparisons with previous betas/updates
  • Questions and discussion that are not bug reports

Not allowed:

  • Any specific bugs (even new ones)
  • Listing old unresolved issues
  • Detailed descriptions of things that don’t work
  • Anything that can be interpreted as a bug report

Is this understanding correct?

I’m just trying to understand what constructive feedback can still be posted here without the post being closed.

Thanks.

It was very disappointing; I switched back to SU6 immediately.

If this post cannot intuitively and clearly reflect the issues and expectations discovered by users during the beta period, I think there is no need for it to exist. It would be better to make an announcement.

just updated to beta 7 - runway shot is Geneva, the other two Catania aiport (Sicily). What’s up with that.. it’s all trees and more trees…

Edit: all good after restart of MSFS

You’ve unlocked the Minecraft DLC

I noticed a change from previous multiplayer behavior, at least against the last couple of SU betas. I was unable to be seen or see players across the beta boundary. I.e. I was in the beta, my friends were in the live game, we were unable to see each other in game, but could see each other in the world map when launching.

Is this an expected change for beta behavior? Or is this something that needs to be reported as a bug?

Sure. This topic is a “catch-all” topic for comments that don’t have their own topic. The moderators may move posts or topics that don’t really fit anywhere else into this topic.

For your examples of what could be posted:

  • General impressions of the beta overall (more stable / worse / about the same) :cross_mark:
These would be better posted in the SU7 Beta Surveys

  • General feeling about performance (without specific bug reports or logs) :cross_mark:
Ditto - These would be better posted in the SU7 Beta Surveys

  • Opinions on new features introduced in SU7 (for example Air Races, if available) :white_check_mark:
Note that some new features may have a dedicated topic - the Air Races probably will once they become available.

  • High-level comparisons with previous betas/updates :white_check_mark:
Yes, but please make sure that the comparisons are contructive and useful. Help us make this a great place for discussion by always adding something constructive to the discussion, whether big or small. We do not remove posts for being negative; however, posts will be removed that are repetitious, toxic or non-constructive.

  • Questions and discussion that are not bug reports :white_check_mark:
Yes, but again, please make sure that the discussion is contructive and focused on the SU7 Beta.

  • Any specific bugs (even new ones) :cross_mark:
As you correctly noted, and as stated in the OP, Please do not post bug reports in this thread.

  • Listing old unresolved issues :cross_mark:
Old issues should continue to be discussed in their existing topics in the Discussion Hub or Bug Reporting Hub

  • Detailed descriptions of things that don’t work :cross_mark:
These fall into two categories - something that worked pre-SU7 & now does not, which means it’s a regression & should be considered a bug (so needs reporting in an existing or new SU7 bug topic), or something that did not work pre-SU7 and still does not work, in which case comments should continue to be made in the appropriate topic that (hopefully) already exists in the Discussion Hub or Bug Reporting Hub

  • Anything that can be interpreted as a bug report
This is a bit of a grey area. If you are encountering an issue and are unsure if this is a new SU7 bug, or regression, then its OK to post in this topic asking for guidance or for others to try to repro. In the past, if I was unsure if it was a regression, I would post in the appropriate category in User Support Hub asking users to try to repro in the current release build (SU6). If they could repro, then it’s not a new SU7 bug and so should be reported in Bug Reporting Hub. If they could not repro, and it was something that worked in the current release build (SU6), then it’s a regression. Otherwise, it’s a new bug. In both of the latter cases, it requires it’s own SU7 bug topic if not already created.

Hopefully, this now makes everything as clear as mud!

If your in the beta ppl in the live build won’t see you this is normal. The previous beta that did allow that was a one off. If you load up su7 beta you will notice there’s nobody flying. It’s either everyone hates su7 or there’s a bug culling all the traffic.

I found that whenever I post in beta, I get locked because it’s not a native issue with SU7. What is a native problem? Some issues have not been resolved since the release of 2024 and are still not allowed to be raised.

Fixing bugs is not a new feature. Call it by it’s name and call a bug a bug. Make bug patches not SU.

I work in a big company, the wrong process can eliminate efforts, good intentions at working level. I feel the way SU’s are done do not help to improve efficiently the software, mixing up too many topics in one large batch.

Leave SU to new features like the air races, weather, flight model, rendering techniques, lighting etc.

I think it’s time to end the comments like “the last time we had good performance/weather/LOD/etc in MSFS was SU4. It’s been degraded since then.” To me this is unsubstantiated spam that never includes examples or any validation. I have been in every beta version and there has been an absolute improvement in ALL areas of the sim since the beginning. There have been numerous posts by highly vetted authors that have reinforced my opinion here. It feels like trolling where the same phrase is used extensively, almost word for word by a bunch of users that, if you view their posting history, you can clearly see that their complaints have spanned every beta version completely invalidating their claims. I do believe that console users have had some digressions but clearly Asobo addresses them as soon as they are identified.

I hope moderators can shut down these non-constructive rants (my block list has grown exponentially) so that those of us looking for important information can find it easily.

It goes without saying that I am not privy to official definitions but to me a problem that was first identified in the beta should be raised in the SU7 forum. A bug or issue that appeared before SU7 beta should be raised in the main Official Microsoft Flight Simulator forum.

Now if I misunderstood your question then i apologize.

ALL except weather..
