:warning: Reminder:

I did not have any crashes in SU7 vanilla. I had not installed the flaky nvidia driver either.

Installation of updates in content manager reulted in CTD once an item was finished installed in v1.21.13. When restarting, I could continue to download and install the remaining updates, but it crashed for each file.

Now, in v1.21.17, I did not have any of these issues.

I had early access by a day or two as a SME. Having been a bit under the weather this past weekend, I had plenty of opportunity to put the sim through its paces.

Alienware m15 r4
i7-10870H
32 GB RAM
RTX 3080 (8GB Laptop Card, 150W)
NVidia Game Ready Driver 496.76
Windows 11 Home Build 22000…co_release.210604-1628
DX11
1 Gbps Internet connection

I spent more than 16 hours in the sim this weekend. I used third party and primary aircraft. The entire weekend,I did not experience a single CTD.

A year ago at this time, I got 5 CTD PER DAY. Devs & product team: THANK YOU for all the time and energy that you spend fixing CTD. It’s a thankless job, I’m sure, especially with various causes that you can’t always track down. Hardware, 3rd party, graphics drivers, peripherals, etc.

On Saturday, I did a very long flight, with gate turnarounds. Multiple leg journeys, but did not start new flights from World Map. Basically a stress test of sorts. In previous versions of MSFS 2020, you’d get memory leaks and stutters after about hour 4. Basically went 12 hours in one go, multiple takeoffs and landings, different geographies, major and minor cities. No stutters. Bravo!

Only had two issues all weekend:

  • Connection to Azure dropped for about 5 mins.
  • ATC got into a weird non-responsive state that made it unusable. Will submit a separate bug writeup with screenshots.

I’m not sure that others will have my experience, but this is the best that I’ve seen MSFS 2020 perform. Now if we can only fix ATC…

Flying qualities of C172 and Beechcraft airplanes are as expected. Aircraft I tested this weekend:

  • C172 Steam Gauge
  • C172 G1000
  • G36 Bonanza
  • G58 Baron
  • B300 King Air
  • FBW A320 Development Version
  • Aerosoft CR5/CR7
  • F/A-18 (in Blue Angels livery of course)

Geographies:

  • St Petersburg, RUS (ULLI)
  • Stockholm (ESSA)
  • Helsinki (EFHK)
  • Oslo (ENGM)
  • Glasgow (EGPF)
  • Edinburgh (EGPH)
  • Talinn, Estonia (EETN)
  • Copenhagen (EKCH)
  • Chicago (KORD)
  • Winnipeg (CYWG)
  • Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA (KJAC)
  • Grand Rapids, MI (KGRR
  • Baltimore (KBWI)
  • Washington, DC (KDCA)
  • Glacier Park Intl (KGPI)
  • Butte, Montana, USA (KBTM)
  • Jakarta (WIII)
  • Perth (YPPH)

Not 1 single CTD before and neither now, all fine. Thanks MS and Asobo!

Crash to Desktop on load as long as internet connection is present. Also crashes if network is plugged in after startup if in online mode. Crashes both PC and Xbox. Problem since July. Still Happens in 1.21.17.0.

was on my first flight in the default C172 with live weather and live traffic in VR (Oculus Quest 2) over NYC with Sam Scene City Skyline.
Starting fro La Guardia, heading to Manhatan at 1000ft i ran into a CTD over Cenral Park.

Never had a CTD there before

I’ve received 2 CTDs in under First 10 mins of spawning into Montreal airport. Not looking good. Assuming it’s a mod, but still….

None yet, but only an hour’s worth of testing.

Month also I flew over New York with the C172 with a lot of fog and I did not have a CTD.
I don’t have a big PC, and the sim behaves well.
I7700K, 1080TI, 32Gb ram.
I very rarely have CTD.

Random CTD on my side whilst launching.

Just got one after ending a flight, while it was going back to the main menu:

I have had several ctd’s to desktop on the Xbox Series S.

All at Gatwick (Add on) and Heathrow airports.

Immediate ctd with Bredok3d 737 max (noted that has already been logged).

Captainsim 777 200 Freighter ctd after loading in.
Managed a flight after restarting. Slight stuttering on final approach.

Zenith Stol 710 noticed stuttering frame rate.

Asobo Husky, no problems seen, noticed aircraft exterior lighting looks much improved.

Asobo Citation Longitude, no problems, again much improved exterior aircraft lighting.

No crashes with vanilla. Something is crashing when I enable community content, but haven’t tracked it down yet.

I have installed a clean version of the sim(no add-on in community folder) but running the Nvidia driver released on 12/1. CTD from the onset with DX11

I didn’t get much, if at all, CTD’s pre SU7, so am not really able to comment on this (thankfully).

I just did a clean install of my GPU and I was able to complete a full flight. Before this on the flights I could also hear the audio crackling every now and then, so hoping this fresh install of the driver has sorted it
