iniBuilds A350
iniBuilds EGCC - Default KMCO
Fallout season 2 episode 3 streamed during the oceanic crossing, and Panthers-Hurricanes game while flying down the east coast (hard to recreate as these teams won’t meet again until next year)
The severely nerfed ground texture at iniBuilds EGCC inspired me to test if I could finally complete a full setup in the A350 on this airport. Lo and behold, the performance is so good now that it didn’t feel like I was even close to a memory warning despite sitting in the cockpit for quite a while as I was preparing for the transatlantic flight.
As long as I remained in the vicinity of the airport, the surrounding terrain struggled to load consistently—a noticeable difference to the default A320 flight I posted yesterday. Again, the ground texture fixed itself once altitude and the distance to the airport increased.
After the oceanic crossing, I flew the entire length of the east coast down to Orlando, mainly to recreate the real-world route, but also to check the terrain quality toward the end of the flight. Only issue I saw in cruise was the PG around the DominicDesignTeam KCHS add-on, which exhibited the usual flickering tiles and poor draw distance. Still, it did load in high quality unlike in the default 737 KMDW-KCHS test. New York could have been a problem area if the terrain had been visible at that point.
During the approach the circle for trees and PG started to shrink, while the terrain in general also lost definition as the airport drew closer, more typical A350 stuff. All of these things would have happened even if it had been just a 1-hour hop—I honestly can’t claim to have seen any evidence of the gradual degradation that’s been discussed here. Other than the blurry ground texture, the airport performed well in terms of visuals and frame rate. Decent result for an A350 flight.
I might attempt something more demanding when I get the chance, perhaps A350 EFHK-WSSS with heavy sceneries.
1.9.13.0
Wow there’s so much positivity in this thread
.
Great to see a dedicated Xbox su7 thread.
I’m going to rejoin the beta. I’m so over the degraded scenery on 6.1. it’s so bad I just can’t look out the window anymore
.
I’ve been doing Singapore to Perth in the a380 there’s nothing wrong with the plane. But the scenery is just a blur and YPPH is also a blur and I usually get the memory message as I’m trying to find my way to the gate.
So tonight Il do the exact same route on su7 and report back. Hopefully il keep the positivity going
I’ve done a EHAM (Flytampa) to OMDB V2 (INI) flight using the INI A380 on this beta and there was no blurry textures on the arrival airport and no low memory messages. The plane itself needs optimised on Xbox but it’s manageable. This was on Xbox Series X.
Two flights in Xbox-friendly locations. First one 1.9.13, second 1.9.16

In some of the betas after SU4 the Budapest PG loaded in better quality and more of it was displayed at the same time; however, none of that ever made it into the live builds. Cruise was flawless as it usually is in this area, and ground textures on both airports were good enough for screenshots, at least if you’re willing to spend some time panning around to find a suitable spot. Clearly above average quality for an airliner flight.

SamScene3D ZJSY - SamScene3D ZUGY
Best result since the first CRJ test. I was hoping for one without any airport ground blurries, and that’s what I got. When it’s properly loaded, the fairly basic ground texture in China looks much better than the highly detailed EU/US terrain ravaged by the overzealous memory management.
I’ve just finished a flight from LIMC to LFML in the A321.
In the past, I—like many other users—have often been critical of the state of MSFS, given the issues it has consistently shown.
However, with this build (BETA 4 1.9.16), I have to admit that—provided there are no regressions like those seen previously—we have truly reached an impressive level.
I have never seen such smoothness and landscape detail—even at long range—on Xbox.
I still need to test it with the 737-800 (which is more demanding on graphics and RAM) and at larger airports, but we are certainly starting to see the potential of the 2024 version.
Once the ATC issues and ground traffic management are sorted out, flying with this simulator will be a truly enjoyable experience, at least for airliner operations.
I don’t know if VR users or those who prefer career modes and missions have noticed these improvements, but it is certainly a promising sign for the future.
Installed su7 cache deleted and reset to 32gb. 1gb fttp. 1gb down 100 up.
All settings on high, legacy mode with no blue highlights or tool tips.
Bravo liveries installed
For 2 months I’ve tried to just do a single flight with the Synaptic a220. It took 5 goes but on the 5th shot I actually got it airborne without disabled avionics.
Flytampa EHAM to inib EGKK. The fps was not great but were bearable. I got disabled avionics when I made it to the gate after landing. So I never got to shut it down properly.
But the best part was the ground textures at the airports they were way better than anything I’ve seen in su6.1. it was a night flight and I did notice some blurry ground lights flying over the UK. Arrival airport EGKK was fully rendered ahead of time.
I can’t really comment on draw distance or terrain lod yet as it was hard to see anything like that at night time.
Tonight’s test will be inib 380 WSSS to YPPH in daylight. I’m familiar with this route and I’m used to seeing terrible terrain lod and an unrendered WA and sloppy greyed out orbx Perth airport. I’m not a fan of orbx add-on’s their very resource heavy and have terrible lod.
Also I only saw 1 other player the entire flight surly there’s more ppl on the beta than that.?
Quite happy with the direction they seem to be going. I just hope it stays this way
It’s nice to finally see some positive posts instead of the usual doom and gloom on here just lately. I will probably give the beta a try later on Xbox as I’ve not participated yet, as I was seeing reports of stability issues.
There is a saying in Italy: “Give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.”
The idea is to give credit where it is due—specifically, to the developers who worked hard to solve the problems.
There were—and still are—plenty of issues, but at least now it is possible to fly and actually have fun (as should have been the case from the start). Most importantly, we can do so without getting frustrated by CTDs, poor LOD quality, various malfunctions, and missions that couldn’t be completed because the whole system would freeze up.
We beta testers hope that, in our own small way, we contributed to fixing what wasn’t working through our feedback—even when that feedback was harsh.
Now the developers can focus on improvements and optimization—areas that, especially on consoles, drove us crazy for two years.
We cannot let our guard down, as software like this requires constant maintenance. That said, the path taken with the latest builds seems to be the right one, and that is a source of satisfaction after all this time.
iniBuilds A300 (cargo)
iniScene KBUF - Verticalsim KSYR
A quick cargo run to see if the A300 works now (it does, no infinite loading). In KBUF the ground blurring was so easy to see from the cockpit that I didn’t even bother checking the drone view. KSYR was interesting because the issue was still there (not nearly as bad), but only when the plane/camera was moving. Playing with the drone on the cargo apron, the markings would go bad from the slightest change in camera position, then switch to the high-resolution version after a brief delay once the camera is stationary. This would be a fascinating compromise for Xbox if somehow possible: Commodore 64 visuals in motion, supercomputer graphics in active pause for screenshots.
I’m currently over halfway through the A350 EFHK-WSSS test, and it’s looking really good so far. It will probably be a positive report even if I end up getting a WASM crash or some other issue with the add-on.
1.9.16.0
Hmm so yesterday was a complete disaster. It’s funny bc I’m the only one on the server apparently so I don’t know why the lod was so bad. Ground textures only rendered if I moved the camera to the ground. And if I looked up it all blurred out once again.
This is Flytampa EHAM after a 1hr flight.
LOWI ^^ just spawned in. the immediate area looks nice but only a few km away it’s all low res unrendered mess. I find around Innsbruck great for testing the lod and general draw distance. All of which looked terrible
On final EHAM what a mess
So I dunno if it’s the new beta build I downloaded last night. but I deleted the cache as normal and this was the outcome. It didn’t matter what plane I flew the scenery was way below average.
I’ve had to give up on 3rd party airports this now. Flew the A350 from EGPH into EHAM and it was fine if you continue to ignore the blurry ground textures.
I’m experiencing the same nonsense with the ground textures and buildings not wanting to load properly. Screenshot of the wing view with the red engine was from a month ago and the LOD was really good, versus the other screenshots which are from this week where it’s completely broken. Also way more problems with memory resources and WASM crashes. Not just SU7 beta, but also in the current sim version.
It would be good to get an idea of your equipment and settings…
This morning, I flew two flights from LIPZ to LIEO using the PMDG 737-800, following all the beta and Boeing updates.
The first flight was cut short by a CTD two-thirds of the way through, just as I was adjusting the FMC settings from pounds to kilograms.
The second flight ended successfully, though there was a bit too much stuttering during camera transitions and ground taxiing upon arrival—which felt somewhat jerky—along with some LOD degradation even though it was a small airport..
It is clear that something isn’t quite right; the experience lacks fluidity.
What I don’t quite understand is this: if PMDG has repeatedly stated that they don’t work on beta versions, why are there updates for the 737-800 prior to the final releases?
Incidentally, accessing PMDG’s changelogs has been difficult lately.
It’s not the first time updates have been released during a beta phase, but there are likely technical factors involved that I’m not aware of.
iniBuilds A350
MK-Studios EFHK v2 - CloudSurf Asia WSSS
Historically, both of these airports have been a pain to use with the A350: CTDs, WASM errors, memory warnings/black screens (falling through the ground), unplayable frame rates… so many game-breaking problems in short 3-hour flights. With the exception of some choppiness once the FMC was fully programmed, all these issues are now gone, and the low-resolution ground texture still seems to be the only downside. The blurring was also more moderate this time around, leaving a small possibility even for drone screenshots if a suitable spot with right distance to the ground markings can be found (applies to both airports). I probably still would have used walkaround mode to hide the messy texture more effectively.
Cruise was timed so that there would be daylight for the first 2 hours of flight, and then another 2 before the landing. Terrain didn’t change during the night hours; it retained high quality until lower down on the approach (around 10K and below) when the tree/LOD circle suddenly became virtually nonexistent, just a tiny patch right under the plane. Of course it’s disappointing to see after 12 hours in the air, but the truth is that the result was utterly indistinguishable from the typical A350 approach I get here on much shorter flights—my posts in older threads are reporting the same observations. Considering how well the airport add-on performed after landing, my conclusion is that the gradual degradation on Series X remains a myth only (or has been fixed/significantly improved).
1.9.16.0
I already have a YBBN-RPLL (7+ hours) report with no blurries at all on either airport, will post it after the next one. It’s possible to get a full weekend of enjoyable flights if I don’t purposely push it with unrealistic add-on combinations or try to take airliner screenshots on the ground.
Flights to LFMN and LIMJ using the A321. Build 1.9.16.
The simulator displayed graphics and LOD levels never before seen on Xbox—almost PC-quality, I’d venture to say…
I’m looking forward to the PMDG 737-800 being optimized to match the performance of the iniBuilds Airbuses; that would be fantastic.
The black lines on the water have finally disappeared, too.
Fluidity and depth are spot-on, aside from a few minor stutters while on the ground—nothing significant, though.
I’d say it’s looking very good.
