Just updated to SU8 and the Cockpit White Dot is WORSE.
Anytime I move the cockpit camera the white dot appears and remains until I stop moving the view.
It used to be that I could jump to external view to make it disappear then get back in cockpit and move the view without it appearing. Now it’s there ALL THE TIME.
Why in the world is this even a thing? It RUINS the Experience completely.
Please give us an option to annihilate that thing! Please
The dot never dies
Seriously, what i’ve done,is to bind the free view in the F key and when i press it,the dot goes away for ever. But that means no more fidling with the cockpit interactions, unless you have set bindings (which i have)
I wish Asobo would just kill that ■■■■ thing for good. They finally got rid of the white borders on touch screens though, which made me happy.
I bound “toggle cockpit focus mode” to right d-pad which removes the dot until I move the mouse. This workaround doesn’t block cockpit interactions with the mouse. It provides the closest behavior that I could find to how the game behaved before it was updated for Xbox.
I don’t want to remove the toolbar. I want to remove the annoying white dot that appears in the center of the screen. Thank you for your suggestion but I don’t see how it is related to my issue.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t remove it. It does hide the triangle. I have this mod as I like how it hides the toolbar until your mouse is at the top of the screen.
But the white dot… I agree, should be hidden with an option.
I think it has something to do with the Cockpit Interaction System (maybe OP uses an xbox controller?) I use mouse and keyboard with the legacy mode and never seen the dot. My settings if you want to try it. I don’t use any tool tips etc either.
You won’t see this dot unless you play with a Xbox controller or other gamepad on PC. This problem didn’t even appear in earlier versions of the game until Xbox support was added.
The purpose of the dot is understandable, as it allows us to point and interact with cockpit instruments with the controller, but I don’t need that since I use the mouse instead.
I just tried it with my xbox controller and see the dot (while panning around inside), however as soon as I move a control surface, the dot disappears and I don’t see it again.
You see that white dot? That’s what I don’t want to see. It’s annoying as it’s right in my center of view, and it wasn’t there in earlier versions of the game.
Yes I see it but for me, as soon as I move the left stick (control surface), the dot disappears and I don’t see it anymore, even when panning around with the right stick. It only comes back when I go back to the mouse and then go back to the xbox controller and pan around, but again if I move the left stick it goes away and I don’t see it again.
I can fly the plane with the left stick and look around with the right stick and I see no dot because it disappears as soon as you move the left stick.
My dot comes back every time I move the mouse (which is extremely often) or any time I pan the camera with the right stick. However, with the workaround I gave above, it only comes back when I move the mouse.
Try resetting the controller bindings or increasing the deadzone for the right stick, it might be getting a constant input from the right stick.
I keep the controller plugged in for drone mode and only use mouse/keyboard and my Thrustmaster TCA pack and I never saw the white dot using my mouse. I just now looked around with my controller to test it that I saw the dot being spoken of here. However, as soon as I use the mouse, the dot goes away never to come back.
I worded that wrong. The dot comes back after I move the mouse and then go back to using the controller. When I move the mouse I get a mouse cursor. When I start giving controller inputs again, the dot comes back.
I fly with the left stick and pan the camera with the right stick. I’m constantly panning the camera around while flying, so I’m sure the white dot is annoying the ■■■■ out of me.
That’s really weird that the dot doesn’t go away for you. If I’m panning around with the right stick, as soon as touch the left stick WHILE I’m still looking around, the dot goes away immediately and remains gone (at least until I move the mouse and come back to the controller, but it goes away again every time I move the left stick and remains gone).
