SU8 / PC: Was draw distance reduced or just here?

I am not sure if it’s an illusion but I thought that draw distance seems to me reduced in SU8?

I have the Terrain LOD slider at max: 400 and the Objects LOD slider at max: 200 since SU7.

did you clear your cache files?
There’s been no regression in SU8.

Unfortunately you need to upload before and after photos to make a demonstration of a reduction in draw distance.

It’s probably too late to do that now…

Right, but I have no idea if he has screenshots from the prior version to compare with.

I do not use the Cash files but I will try to clear them.

And I will try to find a screenshot from SU7 in an area where the draw distance was further and compare.

I honestly feel as if the draw distance is shorter. Not only visually I can identify cues in the area I know and where I used to see further previously, but the performance is smoother in that same area.

Usually with shorter draw distance such smoothness is noticeable.

I appreciate it if anyone has before / after screens with same LOD settings (400 / 200 mentioned above) to compare before I send a Zendesk ticket.

100% that the draw distance got reduced. i’ve been noticing it ever since su8 dropped and very dissapointed by it.

If your problem is caused by reduced terrain LOD then you might be able to extend it farther than 400 by editing your UserCfg.opt file. Terrain LOD is a big performance killer though, which is why I wish we had separate render distance sliders for each of the various elements (instead of everything being tied to terrain LOD).

at least sometimes, I had a similar effect. One third of the area below the horizon seemed like a dull colored mash.
I dont have screenshots to compare either.

I get that… i think its very sad to have the need to fiddle woth the sim files… but as i say. Before su8 it was fine with 200 lod and now it looks bad with 400 lod

As I say I wished the developers would just give us the options to fix it ourselves.
