Hello guys,
I have seen other posts around here with a few users that have the same issue. I have tried everything to fix these sudden lag spikes / fps drop… then full sudden rebound to 50 fps+
Nvidia control panel tweaks
Windows tweaks
Monitoring cpu temps (which might be the culprit)
I get smooth fps but every few minutes it will drop to 15-20 fps and hold for 5-10 seconds before going all the way back up to 50+.
Specs
I7 7700k 4.2 ghz
32 gb ram 3000
1080 ti ftw3
M.2 + SSD’s
If anyone has a similar experience or can help, that would be great. I’ve turned down settings too and still get this problem. I’m not sure if its my Kaby Lake being throttled from high temp usage.
It is the same when you load in. LOW FPS then it comes back. It has to do with scenery or other date loading in… I don’t think there is much you can do right now. Needs to be optimized.
Can you check your CPU usage when this happens? I also encounter this and it gets pegged to 100% usage briefly, then stabilizes again.

How do you get 50 fps when I got the same specs as you apart from a RTX 2060 and I get max 40 fps…
So strange, I have some good specs other than my graphics card,
3900X / 32GB 3000 ram / Gen 4 NVME / 1070 ti and I’m running 4k on all high, but I can run full ultra it just drops to 20 fps around cities.
Here is my system with the fps counter in the top left.
Yes, CPU usage goes from 45-55% to 100% and then causes big stutters and choppiness and then goes back down to 45-55% and frames come back.

This is very similar to what I’m experiencing. I encourage you to file a report with Zendesk.

Are your specs similiar? I saw in the roadmap update that
“Performance: Stutters on CPU with lower thread count” is being worked on and they already said significant improvement. Hoping that fixes it.
I have a Ryzen 5 2600x, 16gb of RAM and a 1660 super so we aren’t too similar when it comes to specs.
