Sudden LOD "Priority Loading" & Very Low Quality Photogrammetry Issue - please help me

These are actually the higher level lods that haven`t been colour corrected. They are not missing (the tiles are being loaded) just a much different colour than the lower lods

Yeah I kind of knew that. Unfortunately fixing it is beyond my capabilities but if I was shown how I would certainly take the time (for the IOM)

Try Manhattan.

@TenPatrol

I am mistaken. It is a TP Link Gigabit USB Ethernet adaptor so is a good brand. Odd that it’s seen as unrecognised?

This: TP-Link USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter, USB to RJ45 Lan Wired Adapter for Ultrabook, Chromebook, Laptop, Desktop, Plug and Play for Nintendo Switch, Windows 10/8.1, and Linux OS(UE306) https://amzn.eu/d/236UoPX

I’m unable to use the PC for a couple of days now (got my son) so will resume the fight mid-week!

@WellREDBarron

Didn’t you mean to reinstall all of Windows too (reformat / start from scratch)? Or just the game? If it pulls my settings from cloud either way, I’ll just be back where I am now won’t I?

I could get it going this weekend I suppose and yeah with my speed it won’t take too long. Got my boy this weekend so can’t fly, but I’ll be able to pop in and out to check on it probably.

I use a TP-Link wifi dongle and that a) shows up in device manager and b) is brilliant compared to most I’ve tried. Search for optional updates in Windows or check out TP-Link’s website for firmware.

I expect just the game would work.

@MichaMMA Hey man, I am really sorry to tag you on this but you are really good with this stuff. I’m sorry it’s such a long story but do you have any ideas what I can do please?

After coming back today the situation has got much worse - unplayable now. Last time I flew (a few days ago) I could at least fly normally around lighter areas with smooth 30fps, but now something has totally crippled my PC. I think something on the hardware has died.

I installed Open Hardware Monitor, and looks like my CPU temps are spiking up really high really often. When the game is paused, it’s around 70 degrees, but I see each core hitting 93 to 100 during playing, so looks like it’s thermal throttling going on, but constantly?

I have not run OHM to check CPU temps before, so not sure if this is normal or not, but for sure whenever I checked the Task Manager CPU graphs, Core 0 was ALWAYS maxxed out. Now it is around 50% and GPU is going up and down also.

Not sure why or how that would affect the low quality PG though. I can hear the fans running but OHW sometimes reports zero RPM even when I can hear it so not sure that is accurate.

At idle on desktop CPU says around 55, but I can see Core 3 and 4 even there going up higher (76 on some cores), and CPU package whatever that is reads up to 84 degrees for a moment!?

Here are some screens - last one is in light area which I last flew fine in:

Task Manager

I tried another game (one of the only other things installed on this PC, Wreckfest) and Core 1 and 3 are also spiking to 100 degrees even with low ā€œCPU Loadsā€.

Here is a screen of OHW with that running.

This only seems to have started since doing the .net update on last Friday though (or total coincidence) - but very strange that it’s got so much worse since last time I used the computer.

I checked and there is no dust blocking the fans that I can see. The device does NOT feel hot to the touch either.

Even on desktop it's reaching 100 on Core 4 and nearly that on the others!

I’m desperate to fly and can’t! :frowning:

EDIT: Seems this Shell Infrastructure Host is a memory leak in the Photo Viewer app. Rebooted and temps are lower now BUT on desktop it is still reaching 98 degrees. Doesn’t seem right. Fans are not going full speed after reboot though.

Doesn’t look good. As it doesn’t feel hot I suspect your cooler has come loose but if that’s ok then reflash bios and reinstall every mainboard, chipset, cpu driver you can … no promises.

I dare not open this unit up. I’ll never manage to close it back up again! It’s so dinky. Why would reinstalling those drivers need to be done though! I don’t see how it’s connected with temps.

I might call the company (distributor) I bought it off tomorrow but it was over a year ago so they will probably say sod off.

It could be a deep lying driver is corrupt. This can be hard to pin down and a simple reinstall may be the easiest soution.

OK I see - will investigate what I need to do, thanks

Left it idling on desktop whilst I had dinner and when I opened OHM it was this (with just Chrome open):

But as soon as I do anything (in Chrome, just typing) it goes to this:

Yup that really looks like a cooling issue

I installed this lot over the top (just ran Setup and it went through them all).

It didn’t ask to reboot afterwards but I did. Hasn’t helped the high temps though. Just played a simple 2D game and it still hits these:

Shouldn’t it cut the loads to protect itself and to not get so high? I think that CPU will be dead now, isn’t it?

What about ā€œnight modeā€?
Edit
If enabled CPU will run hotter.

Heey. I didn’t turn anything new on. Don’t even know where that Night mode is - in Windows?

This whole situation has just progressively got worse each time I come back to my PC when I’ve had some so called ā€œleisure timeā€

Do you think CPU running slower than expected would cause those LOD issues? I suppose it makes sense.

Turn off virtualization via OS settings.

Probably yes.

CPU temps in C are what most people compare. Anything under 80C is considered quite good for a device of this size. 80-90 is a bit hot, but not unusual. Over 90 is probably too hot, and as you approach 100C the CPU will start to slow down to protect itself from damage. This is called thermal throttling and this is what is indicated if the ā€œCore Thermal Throttleā€ changes to Yes instead of No.

I don’t see it here:

Followed these steps:

In Control Panel, select Programs and Features. Select Turn Windows features on or off. Expand Hyper-V, expand Hyper-V Platform, and then clear the Hyper-V Hypervisor check box .

EDIT: Oh, it’s the Windows Hypervision Platform near bottom? It was off.

Try via BIOS settings and go to their forum or discord because your CPU goes over 99 degrees celsius.

I had a look in the BIOS once before and it is not a normal looking one (is their custom one). Very minimal options there, nothing for ā€œPower Usersā€

I’ll have another look but it only had really basic stuff like TDP and Boot Partition / Recovery.

Ah, here:

I’ll try their Support but they are pretty terrible with that - Chinese!

Decrease TPD (power limit) and go to their forum or discord!

But they fully understand the English language
