Sunday Shenanigans | Glens Glider Grand Prix

Sunday Shenanigans | #008 | “Glens Glider Grand Prix” | Gliders

This event is going to bring out your competitive side! We are soaring over the Glens in Scotland, from one coast to the other. The trip is split into 8 legs with a landing site at the end of each. First to land and stop safely at each leg will score the highest points (see the table below) and the totals will be counted to find the overall winner of the event. It’s a whole Grand Prix Season in a single flight!

DATE: 26th January 2025
TIME: 18:00 UTC
START ICAO: EGPE (Inverness)
AIRCRAFT: Stemme S12G Glider (default 2024 aircraft made by Got Friends)
WEATHER & TIME: We will decide on the day and all set the same time to have good wind
SERVER: SE Asia

Points per leg witll be given like this:

FLIGHT PLAN:
Grab the PLN or LNM files (each landing location is marked precisely).
You will need to be in the Wing Nuts Event Voice channel to synchronise with the group.

We will land at a number of airfields, criss-crossing the Lochs and Glens, but your challenge will be to find the fastest path to each of the landings. Towards the end we will need to land at the peak of many of the “Ben” mountains, including Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK!

After each landing we will set up on the ground in the same spot and facing the same way (using Slew) and I will do a countdown to pressing “Back To Fly” which will get us all at the same speed and height to start the race for the next Leg. Please make sure you have these commands mapped to something handy!
