The MSFS swerve is a killer
A while in the DCS Spitfire & 109 got me used to taildraggers wanting to go all over the runway, but you do kinda expect it of narrow-track a/c with 1500-2000bhp ( anda definitely unforgiving sim ). I actually think older versions of MSFS were better FM-wise than the current ones, feels like they switched branch in one SU ( maybe the one that reverted the TrackIR changes ) & the FM went backwards. Let’s see what SU9 brings.
Edit: SU9 did put GA a/c back where they were a few SUs ago, feel much better now. I test flew the Spit again and yes, that swerve is ridiculous, even knowing it was coming I ended up well off the runway.
I love the airplane but it has some deal breaking VR issues. Odd considering it’s a perfect airplane for VR.
Mouse cursor hovers a couple inches from the dash and is super finicky about locking on to buttons and switches.
Also, the VR focus doesn’t seem to function.
Going to hold on to it in hopes VR improves.
Agree on all points re: VR but since the first update by SWS, I definitely had VR focus working. Will try again with SU9.
VR focus is buggy in general, so it might have been the sim acting up.
Hopefully the VR mouse issue gets fixed as it’s unusable for me.
Flew the R14 again last night and can confirm that VR focus is still working. Mouse use generally, in FS2020 can be a little bit fussy, whilst in VR and so can’t honestly say, from my own experience, that I would single out the R14 as being any worse than any other plane in that respect.
Perhaps it’s just me then. I fly the G36 most of the time and the mouse is super easy. I’m the RV14 it floats over the panel and you have to get just the right spot before it catches focus.
I was struggling with the flaps lever.
I did confirm VR Focus works a little bit. It’s not up to the level on the default airplanes. Looking out the windows doesn’t function. It can focus to the MFD. However, I find I don’t need it in this airplane as much since it’s really clear.
The mouse in VR is killing me. I’ve never seen it this bad in any airplane. It hovers 4 inches over the instrument panel. Moving around to each button causes wild repositioning of the cursor. This is in line with the sun shield over the instrument panel.
I can’t use this airplane.
Hopefully there there will be a fix for the mouse.
No, just 3 folders. No instructions anywhere.
For those of us who didn’t get installers, does anyone know how to assemble the airplane? I’m hoping my issue with the mouse can be fixed with a proper install. I had all 3 folders before.
I think layout.json in the root needs to get merged together with the existing, not replaced. Then it looks like most of the other files can be copied over.
Hopefully the dev can confirm.
*** Edit ***
I think I figured out the manual install. I did a folder diff and it looks like layout.json in the root needs to be merged into the main file and replace the matching nodes. Then copy the remaining files over. There are almost no differences.
I agree the VR mouse in this thing is unusable. Really annoying that these devs ignore VR users, it is no question the future of simming.
I found if I close my right eye I can manage to use the buttons.
I put together a manual install by merging in the nxi folder. Didn’t help. I also can’t get the center screen to turn on.
Can anyone tell me how to turn on the center screen? I’m feeling dense on this one.
I’ve installed both versions (manually since I didn’t get an installer), and I have the PMS50 freeware installed. Nothing between either install looks different.
That’s not happening for me. I’m familiar with MFDs being on a separate switch, I’ve got everything under the sun (including the WIG WAG, whatever that is) switched on.
Com buttons are all active.
You really do need the installer. There is an option to select the embedded GTN750, PMS50 GTN750, or TDS GTNXi. Without that, the two stand alone software packages won’t work.
I’d contact SWS directly. They’re back from holiday, and they also have an active Discord server.
I guess so, I’ve loaded all 3 of the folders in VS Code, ran comparisons and did my best to reverse engineer it all. I’ve learned a bit about code structure of MSFS at least. They look like complex web applications.
Hello, a little stupid question because I recently had the plane, how do you activate it the PMS50 ?
It is in the installer. There are three checkboxes when you first install the aircraft, and you select which option you want.
I’m away from my computer atm or I’d send you a screen grab…
0k thank
I’ll take a look and thank you also for the capture to come… ![]()
Hello, one last question, did you buy the plane on the Flightsim.to site or the official site?
