It’s certainly an interesting bird to fly requiring more effort and attention flying the Fenix whilst sipping at your favorite tipple.
I just did a flight from EGHH to EGPH (I blame BATC) but I was placed into a full 360 turn, and the plane decided to full bank, disconnect the AP and then simply fall out of the sky.
Unsure if that’s realistic, but ruined what was otherwise a good flight haha.
Will try again tomorrow.
I do need to try airports offing RNAV precision approaches rather than ILS unless landing on cavoc due to (as real life) its just terrible at ILS
You have to be careful not to introduce any discontinuities. I did a quick change tonight adding a transition in, hitting EXE and next thing I knew was aircraft was banking to the left and off course. A discontinuity introduced with that flight plan edit was the cause. A quick Dir to sorted the situation. Note to self: switch to HDG mode first before making flight plan edits.
Sorry I may have given the wrong impression. 8R has a course of 85 deg and BATC was putting me on 55 deg course to intercept so a 30deg intercept angle. Instead I switched to a 65 deg course (20 deg intercept angle) while also waiting for that <one tick away from LOC on pfd before arming APPR mode, and LOC intercept and GS was fine. I suspect v1.0.7 isn’t liking larger intercept angles than 20 deg that say BATC (30deg) is putting me on.
Yeah I understood, thats not good, everything within 45 degrees should definitely not be a problem for it. And everything steeper shouldn’t matter either if using FMS guidance for initial intercept.
Pulled the plane out to test the update (making sure to not have a ROUTE page open), would have enjoyed the experience despite some quirks to figure out (why was the climb power so weak? Both CLB and CLB-2 had the same value so it’s not the derate) but the plane is unlandable because of performance on approach, both on autoland and handflown
I do have hiccups on different planes, courtesy of a mid-tier laptop with ambitious settings, but nothing else I have goes so deeply into single-digit frames per second. (In 2020 - for FS24 it’s a standard unfortunately)
Also, I know it’s logged and triaged a bit low on the priority list, but the plane’s handling of global variables is really wacky. That other apps couldn’t pick up engine start got a workaround, but how did FLT ID end up being sent as the plane’s registration lmao
Climb derate washes-out during the climb, eventually they are the same. So this is normal, the A220 is also not the greatest climber. It has plenty of thrust at low level for take-off and initial climb, at higher level, not so much.
Yeah weather radar and airport map overlays are currently turned off for now because of performance related reasons. They may switch them back on at some stage in the future.
You can still pull up airport diagrams (or approach charts etc) from Navigraph on the MFD if you want to.
Are there any benefits to keeping the Marketplace version versus switching over to iniBuilds manager? Career mode is not supported with the A220 so what am I missing?
v1.0.8 seems smoother performance wise to me. Hard to tell since my PC is relatively new, but you might want to give the A220 a try with v1.0.8 even though there’s no performance fixes listed in changelog, as it just seems a bit snappier performance wise. I’ve also seen others suggesting this too.
