Just to make sure – is this the first time you’ve used the TBM since the “AAU1” update that updated the Garmin G430, G530, G1000, and G3000/G5000 avionics to a new implementation that’s much more accurate to the real units, but behaves differently in some details meaning some peoples’ old incorrect habits are now producing different behavior? For instance, when arming NAV mode if you’re not within a couple dots on the HSI it will only arm, not activate, and it’s up to you to ensure you’re pointed the right direction to keep it getting closer (eg by setting the HDG mode to point in a safe direction)?
