Flying a TBM from KEDC to KGTU in Texas. Tried entering a Direct to airport then an Proc. The Direct TO worked, but when I entered the PROC and hit APR on the panel, the Flight Path got really strange and took me in a half circle, way out of my way and eventually lined up on the destination runway. But the Glide Path never kicked in, but was indicated in the PFD. Just flew over the airport. I am assuming this is a bug, but my assumption might be wrong.
What if I were flying my pretend TBM and had to divert to a pretend airport that was WOXOF with pretend fog, I’d be in a pretend pickle.
How it works now is it always loads the full procedure and takes you to the first waypoint of that procedure. Not sure how it works in real life.
What I normally do before loading a procedure is switching the AP to HDG mode. Load the procedure and activate the leg that makes the most sense to join in the flight plan view. Only then I switch to NAV, preferably joining the leg manually (HDG or hand flying) first.
If you follow published routes and standard STAR entry points + STAR’s this wouldn’t be a problem, because the end/start points are the same. If you’re direct to the ATC would vector you anyway, so you can kind of ignore the procedure.
APP you activate after you’re on the localizer and on or below the glide path.
The part I can’t figure out is activating a leg further down the sequence fixes. It was easy in the G1000 in XPlane, but not here. I will give it a try.
Ikowgli, I am using the workingtitle mod as well, but I can’t seem to select a leg and select “activate leg”. Iam in a TBM with the G3000 and entering the FP via the Garmin. After setting up the approach it displays a screen in the touch screen, Approach Selection, that show the airport, the approach, and the transition, and the only thing I can change is the transition. There is no way that I can see to select one the the way points in the sequence list and get an activate leg button. That is a great feature to have, but I have no idea where it is in the MFD. Any help would be appreciated.
