TERRIBLE LOD is destroying a potentially great sim

Sorry. I think I have replied to a wrong tooic. :smirk:

So are you experiencing the same problems with your pc?

I am having issues with Low bandwidth message popping up. I am getting a bit lost. The way this forum is designed is confusing. I was replying to on another topic but the replies go here. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Ok thanks.

I’m giving up. Since this afternoon, the installation manager is taking ages to check for updates… this game is an endless hit or miss.

At least, I can confirm that texture quality is improving. Taking off with the 787 from MMMX I can’t see noticeable problems.

Out of curiosity, which server are you on?

West Europe.

Have you tried switching servers?

I think switching servers only changes multiplayer environment, the Bing imagery connection stays the same. Could be wrong though.

It could be the case.

But we are getting inconsistent results. Some have good experiences while others do not. If only we can narrow down when and where the bad results happen…

This combined with the live weather issue, and folks on PC getting slow connection warnings…

They all point to the same family of data streaming issues and slowdowns.

I’ve just recently discovered that you have to tweak the heck out of HDR on most TVs to get it to look right. I have it one last shot and flight simulator as well as every other game looks a lot better. I still feel though that SDR looks more natural and realistic but… meh. Just got an HDR TV so I’ll probably be using it with all games for a while maybe.

Flight simulator does, however, look more realistic to me in SDR although to have HDR as an option as it makes everything pop… The highlights in the sky or the lights on the plane… Yummy! I hope Asobo won’t touch the HDR for now despite my complaints because after tweaking it on my TV and the Xbox HDR app, everything looks nice.

One guy on YT called Quantum TV called out HDR saying it’s a gimmick and a fraud and it makes a lot of sense. Anyway, enough off topic…happy flying :slightly_smiling_face:

Another flight on a flat ground in Texas (about 1000 feet)
Can you see the texture squares on the ground popping continuously?
During this flight my ping to European western server was 55ms.

(From my network test on Xbox I have:
Download ~69 Mbps/s
Upload ~19 Mbps/s
Ping 15ms)

This happens in big cities too. Texture on buildings pops and change continuously when I rotate my camera.

Is this a server issue?

I’ve been getting this for last week or two, maybe longer. I’m told it’s servers. If that were the case there is a chronic issue with servers, as I would expect a variation in experiencing the issue.

Yes servers. The square tiles loading is your evidence.

There are all kinds of server issues this week. PC and Xbox.

Wow, never experienced this mess, not even these days. Something similar happens south of Bordeaux, France, but that is a known bug. Where is this place exactly? I’ll try to replicate that later. I’m on West Europe servers too.

It’s not just this week though of course, here’s my post from Jan 19th.

Bear in mind I play two or three times a week if I’m lucky, and briefly at that, so it may easily have been happening some time prior.

We seem to have reached a sort of acquiescence on slow servers. It’s seems if we can call it a ā€œbugā€ or ā€œLODā€ or some other term it’s worth addressing, and it’s pursued with fervour.

Whereas if we can label it slow servers, we nod our head sympathetically and assume it might be busy that day. (and the next, and…)

Which is fine, until you look at the broader picture, aggregate these remarks and realise, it’s actually just a ā€œnewā€ normal, just business as usual etc…

By the way please don’t take it like I’m being snarky with anyone, we’re all trying to improve things, I just feel the server thing isn’t a new or super recent phenomenon

You would be correct, those are only for mp. For photogammetry, it will automatically stream data from the closest server, and you won’t get to choose that or know where the server is.

Asobo has also said the servers do not upstream atmore than 10mbps per user and that is an issue. Maybe they ought to bump this up to 20-30 but something is preventing them I’m sure.

It isn’t.

Still, this week has been worse than normal. From the weather issues pinned to the tops of the forums, to these Xbox issues, to PC users complaining about getting bandwidth too low warnings and being logged off.

This feels like something more than the usual intermittent issues.
