Decided to test if altitude constraints are the same using the same SID on SUMMR2 24L out of LAX. The one sid with below 12,000ft at DARRK is using the world map. But as you’ll notice the same sid shows above 12,000ft at DARRK when I picked it from the fmc in the default a320neo on Xbox.
Yes, you are opening up a Pandora’s Box
The World map does not take into account the equipment of capabilities of the selected plane, or its navigation Instruments, when it allows you to create a flight plane, with departures or arrivals.
I don’t believe most external Flight Planning Apps do either, ie e LNM etc etc
This has become even more an issue, with the introduction of WT’s new Instrumentation, with GP systems and AP system that DO take into account the plane’s Navigation equipment, etc etc
So maybe, going forward, the current "work around’ is NOT to specify departures or arrivals in the World map, but instead wait and enter them from what is available in the GPS / FMC systems of the selected aircraft.
So which sid is the correct one here for the altitude constraints? Ideally i like adding the departure runway and sid using the fmc while at the gate since it does make it feel more realistic.
