So, you have completed the VATSIM New User Course and passed the exam. You have vPilot installed, and you say “NOW WHAT?” . And you have the overwhelming fear of talking to REAL PEOPLE on the network. And you may have NO IDEA how to really FLY a GA prop aircraft. Or maybe you have a PPL of your own. We want BOTH of you in here. Some will be practicing, and paying it forward to the new guys. Others will want to follow, listen, and learn.
There are several airports in the West Texas area, you can actually *CONNECT* to vPilot and not have to worry about being jumped on by a VATSIM Controller, even though they are in the area there (on Albuquerque Center). I have found an area, where you can safely join in on discord, ask questions, fly, and join in, slowly adjusting to VATSIM on your own speed.
The three airports we are going to use, are ideal for starting out, or just looking for a safe area to do circuits with others, and learn the proper ways to communicate your intentions over VATSIM. They are just far enough apart, that Unicom users will not be heard while on the others. Did you notice I did not say AIRBUS, BOEING, or AIRLINER at all? Those aircraft are NOT welcome in the area. And no, we will NOT advise you how to do your transatlantic sleepover events. We want to actually FLY the planes, and help others to get the enjoyment by learning to do the same. A PROP is pretty much required in there, and the ATR is not in the event selection, at least not for new pilots. Interested? Come join us!
