Specs, 13900K, 4090 PC, Windows 11, Quest Pro
Issue - When flying over the sea I get a strange texture lighting flicker, usually from one side of the plane only, either left window or right window but not both at the same time.
What happens is that part of the screen will flicker wildly, if I look at the water and there is a boat it will kind of ripple and show two boats before slowly merging back into one.
It seems to be linked to water, I never notice it overland at all. I['m wondering if its a corruption of cloud shadows?
I’ve only recently upgraded my entire setup. I used to have a 10850K, 3090 PC on Windows 10 with a Reverb G2. I’ve essentially upgraded everything at the same time so I have no idea if its a Quest Pro issue, Nvidia card driver issue, Asobo issue, Windows 11 or whatever.
Outside of this weird bug performance is excellent, very smooth even over large photogrammetry cities and complex airports, it seems to be a bug associated entirely with water and the sky.
It doesn’t reproduce on the flatscreen monitor view so I can’t show a picture, just hoping somebody else has experienced and knows what it is?
I feel like its a corrupt reflection or lighting effect but not sure how to test for this.
I tried removing the Gaist add on but it wasn’t that.
Testing again today I notice then effect doesn’t become present until my plane is physically over the water. Flying towards the ocean it looks great and all ships look normal until I am over the water and the area outside my passenger (right side) window flickers terrible.
The flickers do seem to make out a rough cloud like shape so I’m wondering if it’s corrupted cloud reflections?
There are clouds elsewhere in the image reflected accurately in the water but not in the area of flicker so maybe it’s trying to render cloud reflections but some driver or something is corrupted?
Has anyone else experienced this?
I’m still suffering with this annoying glitch. I’ve narrowed it down to the root cause now, it’s sunlight from the sun. It causes a strange texture corruption/flickering where its light casts and is very distracting.
I’ve tried turning off and every option from low to ultra for all possible related settings, shadows, bloom, light shafts, raymarched reflections, ambient occlusion etc but nothing fixes it. I’ve also switched between DirectX11 and DirectX12.
Does anybody else experience this? I assume if people did it would be a major complaint. I’m at a loss as to how to fix it. I also don’t know how to capture it in a video, it doesn’t show at all on flatscreen, it’s a VR only problem.
