If that really is the case then they won’t have a commercially viable product on their hands.
Why? I would say it’s kinda common sense a 3k-4kUSD high end PC will run the sim better than a 500USD Series X, a 300USD Series S or a low end PC.
It doesn’t mean it won’t be acceptable on the consoles and weaker PCs.
Different day, different thread. Same answer applies. We should be getting the same exposure regardless of system. They should be showing gameplay. This is not the norm.
We haven’t seen Xbox demos because, well, the sim’s wow factor is best shown on a high-end PC.
If that really is the case then they won’t have a commercially viable product on their hands.
Not at all.
As long as the sim runs on Xbox, there will always be happy Xbox’ers and sad Xbox’ers. Just like there will always be happy PC’ers and sad PC’ers.
My comment was strictly referring to how they’ve chosen to market the new sim.
Flightsimulators, including MSFS were commercialy viable long before they came to console.
And showcasing will alwaus come from the most powerful hardware.
So even most PC users will not achieve what os showcased.
And as there is no content difference between PC and Console, there is not really a need for an extra showcase.
If you dont have a gamepass you will have to wait for reviews and user feedback, i am afraid.
And if you have gamepass, you can tey it yourself without any extra costs.

Could it just be the case that there’s simply a lot less gameplay footage in general? I know they let YouTubers run amok in the software, but I feel like we had vastly more official content in the run up to 2020 than we do for 2024.
And much of the official content we are seeing is developers showing stuff off on livestreams, which wouldn’t really be happening on console.
but I feel like we had vastly more official content in the run up to 2020 than we do for 2024.
Actually we didn’t. But we were in Tech Alpha, so maybe this is why you probably feel like it had more info prior to lauch back then.
I was probably thinking of the Feature Discovery Series, only three of which came out before launch. That’s still three more than we have for 2024 now though.
We had weekly Dev Livestreams. We had aircraft, we had scenery, we had sdk live streams / showcase.
It’s true we don’t have the feature discoveries this time, but we have the Q&A streams, we had 2 FSExpo presentations and some interviews, things we didn’t have back then. All in all, I still think information sharing is on par.
There has been a curious lack of marketing for FS2024. Two trailers, both of which pretty much just showed the same thing. Then the rest has been left up Youtube influencers to fill in the blanks. Most of whom just recorded variations on the same footage.
I get it that studios apparently hate making trailers because they do take time and effort and have to be made with a frequently unfinished game.
But where at least are all the amazing screen shots showing off the new world of FS2024?
Outside of the flight sim community I don’t get a sense of any big build up to the release of FS2024 from within the wider gaming world.
Farming Simulator 25 comes out next week and I’ve seen far more about that.
There has been a curious lack of marketing for FS2024.
Yes, I think so too. I wonder why? (genuine question)
Even if they haven’t been in a position to record footage its the real lack of screenshots that puzzles me. I realised that whilst testing the alpha. I thought they could have been really showing all this off long before now to get people excited.
Makes me worried there’s a lot that isn’t finished yet.
During yesterday’s ‘Wednesday show’ (Twitch), on the SDK and Marketplace, Jorg said the satellite imagery wouldn’t be in 2020 at launch but rather be delayed a couple months. It does give the impression that the workload is a bit much and that things are progressing more slowly than some of the higher ups might want.
Personally i am just monstrously impressed lately by all the things we will be getting that we have asked for – so many that its hard to categorize it all – but lately for me its the charts they’ve been showing with everything from SIDs and STARS to airport charts…and I think available in preflight as well as in the plane on the EFB which I get the feeling may replace the handlebar that many hated? not sure on that.
But the ability to selectively activate or deactivate products – for X Box players, that is huge.
Gigantic regions of photogrammetry? Is that true? I’d love to see it for myself or at least pictures. There just seems to be a lot.
oh yeah - more avionics and even improvements on some things already available… and even more planes - so many more planes…
You’d think they would release at least some footage of how it looks and runs on XBOX, considering XBOX was an important component in the revival of the simulator.
I know. I feel like a lot of time and money spent ‘improving’ 2020 with add-ons still doesn’t hold a candle to what 2024 potentially offers.

maybe because few things sell more effectively than speculation and uncertainty
its a perfectly valid marketing strategy
many of us OLD guys will remember a movie called the blairwitch project
it was made with 2 cents of production budget and 1 cent for marketing, and everybody went absolutely crazy about it, the speculation delirium about wether the events depicted were true or not, sold the movie for them
Could be a Haloween photographer career mission!
