The 1947 Hughes H-4 Hercules

I use these along with the ones that come with the Boeing 314.

I dusted off the H-4 for an hour long flight this evening. I did my best to follow both the in-game checklist and the one provided by James Maxwell. I “cheated” a bit by using the autopilot, but I don’t feel guilty about it. :slightly_smiling_face:

I flew from Chautauqua Lake in the southwest corner of New York State to the eastern shore of Pelee Island, Ontario.

I pulled off a nice landing (click to see the video clip):

And then I used the tug to tow me to shore.

Thanks for letting me share.

The H4 is pretty great, huh?

I sure love to fly it.

On the recommendation above, I just picked up this book from Amazon. It is really interesting!

It answers some questions I had, like: how did the plane not go all over the place when starting the engines and warming them up? It turns out there were mooring bouys and, if those weren’t available, the plane had an anchor, and the handbook has procedures for deploying it.

In the sim, active pause can serve the same purpose.
