This weekend, we’re returning to Italy! We start right at the toe of the Italian boot, in Calabria. We’ll climb the Aspromonte massif and descend to the city of Reggio Calabria. From here, we leave the mainland and fly across the Straits of Messina to the island of Sicily, where we’ll explore the Peloritani mountains, and then climb the mighty Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. From its 11,000 foot peak, we descend to the fertile western slopes, visit the hilltop town of Centuripe, and make our way to the northern coast, where the Nebrodi mountains drop steeply into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
5 landings in total, 160nm. The highest point we’ll pass over is around 11,000 feet. The shortest runway is 1165 feet (LIRO).
