You can buy those with Shark cards, don’t ya know?
dropping anchor outside any port never comes with mooring fees anyway, unless you paying for a buoy.
If you outside the harbor ( and outside traffic routes ), it’s fair game and free for any boat to park almost literally anywhere they want if outside a harbour - in some cases this can even include beaches.
Now you will see in the marketplace that this was all pure conjecture and premature jabbing at MS because of 3rd party card sellers incorrectly advertising a virtual currency with an incorrect description.
People like to talk too soon, and get angry - over incorrect information - and treating unconfirmed information as fact without checking any actual 1st party sources.
A moderator should close this thread.
When I was working at the Monaco GP, they were moored in the port with all the other boats, only Microsofts looked more like an ocean-liner, heli-pads, the works.
Do you have some photos of Microsoft’s boat? Im curious.
err…no…got some of the F1 cars though. I was there and saw it and remember it. Everyone was talking about it. It was Mahoosive. But this was in 2001, maybe they can only afford a canoe these days.
There is nothing for sale on there yet, except those coins. If you don’t like the thread, you should walk away, and leave us to discuss it.
When more items get put on there we will see whether purchasing XP with coins really is a thing. Until then, it’s too early to call, no matter how badly you desire people stop talking about this. I have to wonder why…
@DirtyStalker224 is the only one that seems to have a fact based opinion on this that is valid. Only one website is advertising those cards as having anything to do with career mode (possibly a second, which no longer has the cards listed on their site). All other retailers, including major retailers that are more trustworthy than random gift card sites, do not mention anything about using them for career mode.
Your main argument is based on faulty AI information that you are treating as fact without verifying, which is a huge problem these days. AI is less trustworthy than Wikipedia in my opinion when it comes to getting factual data. This entire issue is complete speculation based on nothing but fear mongering assumptions. It’s not too early to call because there was never anything there in the first place.
I wasn’t basing it entirely on an AI response, I just did that as a test to see what it said. I am fully aware of its limitations, I was just amused by the fact that it agreed.
Just to re-iterate, my argument is nothing to do with the coins themselves, but what they can be used for. I am speculating that you will be able to use them to buy progress in the career mode, nothing more.
The Marketplace right now is as bare bones as can be. No doubt it will be flesh out in due course.
There is still no basis for it, though, and you are sticking to that viewpoint despite all the facts and evidence to the contrary. There is no reasonable suggestion or hint that it is coming.
Or that it isn’t.
There’s also no evidence suggesting Microsoft will start requiring us to wear a Captain’s shirt when flying, that must be verified via a webcam during login in, but you better go out and get your costume ready…
All will become clear in time. Believe me, I’ll be happy if they don’t. The ability to pay for your progression in Career Mode never felt right to me. It smacks of pay to win, or in a non-competitive arena pay to progress.
That’s the other thing I have a problem with. The whole “you aren’t competing with anyone” thinig. If that is th case, why are they so hell bent on stopping you from using whatever plane you like, Marketplace or otherwise. Again, if you can’t see why a company is doing a thing, look to the money. Monetising the career mode seems to be the goal here.
I hope it doesn’t turn into those grubby free to play mobile games, where you pay out the nose for pointless fluff.
Wait, you’re saying I DON’T need to be doing this?
My assumption has been it’s not on purpose, it’s just that they were, and still are, way behind in finishing planes and features.
Hopefully you are right. Ideally the user should get to choose what they want to fly, for what missions, and not be tied in any way to an MP plane of a certain type. Yes, that could allow users to use tinkered with Community based planes that can do things they shouldn’t normally be able to do, but who are you cheating but yourself.
Have you submitted a question regarding the purpose of those coins for tomorrow’s dev stream? It’s all just conspiracy level speculation unless it’s confirmed by Jörg or actually available in the sim to provide “shortcuts” in career mode.
I think they talked about those coins in one of the streams last year, might have been an SDK or Marketplace stream. But I don’t remember / I’m not sure and I’m too lazy to look it up.
What I do remember is that they talked about being able to gift products and virtual currency to a friend.
Honestly, given the mess the Career mode is in currently I would be shocked if anyone did spend any money on it specifically. That really needs a good year of work on it before I would consider taking another look.
The basis for it is simply the unavailability of missions outside of career mode.
The only rational explanation not letting users fly any mission anytime, anywhere in the world with any plane they want, is that they want to monetize it.
I am thinking that they are looking ahead to a trend that is popping everywhere. Streaming advertisements, like pop ups. Then like every other streaming service out there, you have to pay extra not to see ads. Hell, it’s even happening in cars now. Don’t be surprised when it happens, it was my first thought right from the beginning.
This makes the most sense, especially when you consider the aircraft have to be customized with extra stuff like having cargo boxes and skydivers riding along. I doubt you can just slap that on top any and every plane, and would have to be individually tailored to the layout of the aircraft.
