I have been here since the launch of 2020, one of the most virulent discussions has been about the clouds, and especially the lack of cirrus. I was flying today in the 2024 from LSZH to LEBA and saw this.
I just got my MSFS 2024 and haven’t installed it yet. Do the cirrus clouds look like cirrus clouds or do they look like flattened cumulus clouds? Cirrus clouds are made out of ice, not water, and thus should respond to light differently.
What I’m looking at looks good, but I’ve seen other videos where the cirrus clouds look like pancaked cumulus.
Well, he did give us a screenshot…
Yes, and I said that what I’m looking at looks good, but one screenshot may not cover all situations . Most of the cirrus clouds I’ve seen in various videos like the one in the upper right of that screenshot.
Depending on the angle you’re looking at, it should give a “rainbow” effect… haven’t see that yet.
Have seen rainbows though!
If I remember correctly, cirrus clouds are technically rendered as cumulus. But in a much lower cloud layer. So, pancake cm is a correct way of putting it. I heard this on one of the streams.
