The fetch over water feature suggestion

With time, I wish MSFS 2020 could calculate the fetch over open water. It is rather unrealistic to see big waves on a lee shore. The waves are proportional to the distance over the water the wind can blow. This is important if you fly a seaplane because you will always try to land on a lee shore, where there are few waves.

How to do it ? I have made a vessel simulator using Unity. It provides a routine that calculates the distance to an object. This is done for the “shooting” games. I made the sea and the land as two different objects and, with that routine, I could, for example, simulate an echo sounder and even, a radar, on the distance to the “ground” object.

The same could be done for MSFS 2020. I know, there is only one seaplane as it is today, but more will come certainly with time. How can we suggest that idea to the developper of the simulator ?

You just did… Change your title to Calculate The Fetch Over Water Feature Suggestion…and make it votable (I don’t know how to do that)

And you may want to consider describing what all those terms you just used mean… I kinda understand what you’re saying after reading it a few times. Not all of us are experienced boaters/Seaplane pilots.

I imagine most of us are like me… “yeah, that looks about right, ok, I’ll settle in here…”
It’s nice to know what experienced pilots actually think and do.

Thank you. I hope it is easier to understand now, with an illustration.
