Hi there. I’m the dude who worked on much of the original G1000 mod, though not the 0.4 beta we’ve had hanging around for a while. I think one thing folks don’t generally realize is that, at least while we were acting as a community project, the CJ4 had 4 people working almost exclusively on it, plus a team of testers and QA folks. On the avionics side, we’ve had two people spread across three different systems, hardly a full dev team.
And, yes, the guy who put in a bunch of work on the 0.4 beta has taken a break. My own life got pretty crazy there for a while, too, with demands from my full-time job and other issues. But the good news is that now I’m able to work on these things full time.
I’m not able to give details of our roadmap now as partner developers, but I can say that we all realize that the avionics are one of the areas the sim needs the most help and we plan to spend a lot of effort focused there as a full development team. We’re working on some awesome stuff that I can’t wait to see come out.
That said… you are correct, there will probably not be much more to see on the G1000 mod itself. I have been working on fixes to a couple problems that have cropped up with 0.3.4 interacting with the newer G3000 and will hopefully be able to release a small patch this week. But that’s mainly maintenance work to keep the free products functional like we told the community we’d try to do.
