The Halo spaceship DLC

Adding this aircraft doesn’t hurt the sim’s image nor take away from the core of the sim. You simply don’t download it and just stick to real world aircraft like I do and sim away.

Well said Snowy!! Jorg said it was going to be a big month in June and it’s been HUGE.

Adding the Pelican is a bit of fun, I’m sorry to all the hardcore Simmers that hate it, but MSFS needed it. It is not only fun it is so detailed and comes with some pretty nice skins.

It will bring over lots of new people and hopefully youngsters from the Halo franchise. Once in the simulator they will no doubt try some of the GA and tubeliners.

This is just the fresh boost the simulator needs. I’m sure the user numbers will look good.

do people whining here not remember x plane had a mars map?

Please keep in mind that flight simulators are a niche product. The tend to generate just a very small turnover, let alone the profit.
If MS decides to push sales with fancy or even arcade stuff - it’s good for the sim! Feel free to ignore whatever you don’t like in the sim. Yes, it has a plethora of options, helps and addons that are not really straight to the core simmers point of view, but coming from XP I must admit that I like this distraction a lot.
Not to mention all that amazing eye candy.

Downloaded and gave this ship a try out last night ( just before bedtime , had to see what all the fuss was about !! ) .
Was actually pleasantly surprised . Very nicely detailed and requires some skill to fly it gracefully . Some sort of missions would be the icing on the cake ( ie, troop landings , supplies , medi vac , etc , etc ) .
Content , like this , can only benefit the sim in the long run , in my opinion . While not everyone’s " cup of tea " , the Halo DLC is not a compulsory download , nor compulsory to use at that . I think it will bring a larger audience to the sim ( flight sims are generally a niche market ) , and in doing so will help increase interest in flight simulation . Importantly , content like this will also help keep the " lights turned on " , if you understand what I mean :+1:

( P.s , in summary , a big :+1::+1: from me . )

LOL, the pelican did exactly what Asobo wanted presumably, this thread made the Google Toliet News this morning. Pretty funny stuff, oh and now I are famous because I made it into the Google T News. Bwhahahahha.

You don’t have to download this and never have to fly it. All free and voluntary. MSFS adds 1000 serious flight sim stuff, and 2 not so serious, for fun, and you complain…

My feeling re the Pelican is that if I want Elite Dangerous I would buy it. Not convinced this is the right direction of travel for what is a simulator after all. The Dark Star, ok maybe, but this ugly thing? My fear is that MS want to make the SIM all things to all people. It could lose focus and become a mishmash of arcade game, sci fi game and SIM. I do hope not as I love the MSFS and want it to thrive. Time will tell how it pans out I guess.

Perhaps, but XPlane is host to fictional aircraft as well:

Where do we draw the line? It’s probably best not to, and enjoy it if you want it, and pretend it doesn’t exist if you don’t.

VOR Navigation

The simulator’s core is not affected regardless of what add-ons are released for it. Does the Fenix A320 perform worse because the Pelican was created? Has the flight model of the PMDG 737 or the HondaJet been compromised? Or any of the default aircraft for that matter? Whatever optional add-on is created for the sim, the core remains the same. So we don’t have to be afraid of it becoming “arcade”. Anything else is just marketing. Stunts like this only make the simulator more popular, bring in people who would otherwise not try it, and some of them may stick around and become more serious simmers in the end. More players are always a good thing and as long as the core is not “dumbed down” (which it isn’t) then it shouldn’t bother those who fly their own way.

Where would that loyal base of customers go? X-plane? Cya. Not sure why anyone would complain about content you’re not even required to download? Sheesh. Kids these days.

Yeah Xplane I use it all the time when this is having whatever issue the lottery is going to throw at me today. And when 12 comes out with its pretty pretty upgrade, and it runs okay then your right nice seeing you.

As far as the far fetched things in this sim who cares, hell I had a flying toaster back in the fs9 days. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Anyone who claims the Dark Star or Pelican are “ruining their realism”, yet play with multiplayer enabled don’t have a leg to stand on.

Multiplayer in MSFS has its place and it can be fun. But if there’s ANYTHING that utterly smashes any sense of realism in MSFS, it’s having multiplayer enabled when you’re trying to “fly serious”. Quantity of traffic does not equate quality when the majority of the traffic is doing their own thing in disregard for any actual rules.

Don’t install the sci-fi craft, turn off multiplayer, and you’ll never see these annoying planes. Problem solved.

Whining about this is like seeing a dog ■■■■ on the sidewalk, deliberately choosing to step in it vs around it, and then whining that someone else didn’t pick it up before you stepped in it.

I wonder how well it would handle well in the Mach loop

Less pearl clutching, more flying please.

Indeed, I have never understood the argument of “dumbing down” or making this “a game” if something that is not HC-simmer approved is released.
