Simmers,
I decided to take some of my time and educate myself about Japan through MSFS2020, Bing Maps, and Wikipedia. I decided to start at the first island, roughly 70 miles from Taiwan. So far I have been astounded.
Let me also add that I hopped into the Cessna Caravan and find it to be MUCH better fit for this than the King Air for sightseeing. How so? The high wing offers a better vantage point from the airplane. The King Air has great scenery of the engines (I have flown the Beechcraft 1900D airliner IRL) and while those turboprops are historic - I wanted more of the historic from below.
TIP: Don’t forget to utilize Reverse Thrust, which is termed Beta Range (for turboprops), during taxi operations. It helps keep off the breaks and the taxi speeds more manageable. PLUS, you get that cool beta rangey sound.
If you thought Japan’s update didn’t include these obscure islands. You will be surprised. Here is Yonaguni Island:
While circling the island - I spotted two wind turbines which was a curious feature and I wanted to know more.
So below IRL:
Not too shabby!
A view of Yoniguna Airport:
I continue on my journeys today and am working my way up to Okinawa later on. Here are some more screen grabs that are spot on to the real world. Simply a joy to be island hopping right now in Japan.
