This time, list out your collection of what you would classify as “Oddball” Aircraft. No specific rules but it must be “unusual”, let’s say. I have split the tables into two, with the TIER 1 being truly odd aircraft, and the second table being a list of something a “bit different” if you’re looking for that.

I doubt I will count votes here, it’s really just the TABLE above (but I will maintain it in this top post) so other lovers of the strange can be sure they have not missed anything! If you see a plane mentioned in this table already, you don’t need to mention it again, unless you just want to chat about it of course
What is that? Please add!
As for Got Friends, I wouldn’t really call any of them particularly odd (except the Canoe but that doesn’t count!). We got to draw the line somewhere. They are unique, and special, and not run-of-the-mill subjects, but not odd IMO. Lake Skipper? Astro ONE? GeeBee R3? Which ones exactly? Oh I added the April’s Fools joke plane
Feel free to debate any that I have included in the table already!
I suppose the Mario Noriega Designs C-22J would belong here. There was but a handful of them built in real life.
Tonight it occurred to me that the great Canadian rocker Bryan Adams had a hit song back in the day that perfectly sums up my feelings about the C-22J in MSFS. “Run To You” is exactly what I feel like singing when I just grow frustrated with the changes, added functionality and bugs of the other modules. When it gets too much, the C-22J is just sitting there like, “Dude you know me and you know that I am still just as good as the day you met me”. And there I go. Running off to hand fly and track VOR’s until I get my fix.
I’ve got most of those except for the Flying Flea and Zippy Sport.
For my money, unique, special and not run-of-the-mill are at least partial qualifiers (must meet at least 2) for the Odd list. I would include the Got Friends Astro and Lake Skipper on the list, but probably not the Gee Bee since there’s also Gee Bees available from MS/Carenado.
The Farman F60 Goliath from Redwing is a historic oddball .
The Menestrel HN-433/434 is a French homebuilt with a Volkswagen flat-4 engine.
A couple of announced but not released candidates:
Perhaps not truly odd, but what qualifies it for my list is the ability of this airplane to go to space. Here’s a pic from back in the days when you could get it up to 250,000 feet.
That’s kind of how I feel about the Caribou. Well, maybe not the sleek part. For me, it’s a plane with a job.
One other qualifier is when you’re in the hangar and you come across the plane and you go, “WOW! What’s that?!?”, followed almost immediately thereafter by, “I want one!”
@Baracus250 dude your life must be full of lists for everything!
Great idea for a thread, of course defining the line where odd starts is always going to be hard. Given some of the craft that already made it on I think the AN-225 surely fits. Sure, it’s just a cargo jet, in the same way that the C-22J is just a training jet. Totally unique.
That horrid Asobo drone thing probably belongs on here too.
EDIT: Oh, sorry. I didn’t see that it was already in the list. Still, I’ll leave my comment here so it gets a bit more attention.
I’d argue that the Savoia-Marchetti S.55 fits the bill. It’s really something completely different with the old navigation instruments, the weird cockpit layout and the unconventional air frame. The model is really nice and it almost feels steam-punky or like flying something out of a Final Fantasy 9. It comes with two different models and I do recommend it.
