The original Oculus Rift and FS2020?

I have the original Oculus Rift, which I purchased a few years ago for X-Plane 11 and was wondering if it would work okay with FS2020. Are there any suggested settings to use?

My system specs are: Jetline Systems: Intel 8th Gen Core i7 8700K (4.8GHz Overclock); GTX 1080 Ti; LG Curved UltraWide 3440x1440 Monitor.

Thanks a lot,

It would work great i only have an i5 1070gtx using low/medium settings, my only occasional stuttering is around built up areas im also using the original rift and its still better then anything i could get in x-plane

I got the same setup as you (minus the monitor) with 32GB ram and nvme SSD. It’s super cool!

I run it a bit tweaked down for VR (compared to non-VR) but it’s really decent nonetheless. I usually don’t have live traffic ON and what not, weather ON is fine.

You’ll get slow downs in bigger areas or complex weather. Also bigger airliners will have lower FPS.

VFR flights are awesome even if that headset is kinda on the lower spectrum resolution wise.

Things will still be as blurry as xplane. Less stutter in FS2020 in my opinion.

To put it in perspective, I have played xplane only once in VR since FS2020 VR came out.

All the planes in FS2020 are nice in VR compared to only select ones in xplane. FS2020 is juste better looking all around, you’ll love it.

Hope I could help!
Cheers

I use the CV1 on i7 7700 32 GB RAM and GTX1080.

I turned most of the settings to Ultra. But I have to use FXAA and keep render scale at 100 for usable frame rates.

I get some dips in frame rates in dense cities with a lot of air traffic, but other than that it works great for me. I can’t play without VR now.

I think you’ll be just fine with that setup.

Mine is:
i7 - 4790
1080 ti
16gig Ram

Don’t expect miracles but the sim is playable and enjoyable. You’ll have to tweak some of the render scaling between in-sim and either in Oculus Debug or Tray tool to get a nice sharp picture.
I’m running 50 render scale in sim and 200 in Oculus Tray tool, hitting steady 25-30 fps in medium density photogrametry city. Settings are mostly on High with Clouds on Ultra, I’m loosing only a few frames between High and Ultra, but its worth it to me.

Thanks a lot for all your comments and advice. I really appreciate it.

Get the latest Oculus Tray Tool (0.86.9.0 or later) and go for 18Hz ASW. You can now crank up the visuals without too much performance hit.
