Microsoft Store

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
No

Brief description of the issue:
Clicking on the icon from the start menu to launch the sim, or from within the Xbox app results in the dialogue box below. “The Parameter is incorrect”
This only happens from a cold boot state. If I restart (NOT shutdown and switch back on) there is no problem. Its very strange.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

After switching the PC on from a powered off state, I try to launch the SIM from either the icon on the start menu or from within the Xbox app.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up of relevant:
i11700k (stock), Windows 11 pro with all current updates, Nvidia RTX3070Ti, Driver 511.65

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:
1.22.2.0

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It clearly isn’t a widespread issue.

Hi @XR219,
See if running the troubleshooter may fix this:

To run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter:

  • Type Troubleshoot in Windows search and hit Enter
  • In the new window, on the right side, click Additional troubleshooters
  • Scroll down to find the Windows Store Apps entry
  • Select it and click Run the troubleshooter
  • Apply the suggested fixes

If that doesn’t work, Repair Corrupted System Files:

Use Command Prompt commands to repair system file corruption:

  • Open Command Prompt as administrator

  • Use the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow

  • Reboot your system

  • If SFC returned an error, then use the following command lines, pressing Enter after each:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Thanks for this. Couldn’t find the troubleshooter as such on Windows 11, but thought I’d try moving the store app portion of the Sim from the E drive where it was installed originally, to C (default location) and it seems to have worked. My next trick will be to move it back to E.
In Windows 11, go to settings, Apps, find the App (in this case Microsoft Flight Simulator) in the list. Click on the 3 dots to the right and select Move. It moves the 1.4Gb of base App.
I suspect because it recreates folders and permissions it resets the security settings perhaps… but it worked.

MODERATOR EDIT:
This post merged into this topic.

When I try to start the flight sim I get this error message

C:\program files\windowsApp\Microsoft Flightsimulater_1.23.12.0_8wek…\GameLauchHelper.exe

The parameter is incorrect

Members,

Had to reinstall Flight Simulator again last week.
I’ve had the game since November 2020 and I’ve had to reinstall the game more than 10 times due to many issues.
fail!! And my patience is starting to run out. pay a lot of money for a game with nothing but problems.

Now another problem, the game won’t start AGAIN.
I get the message below when I want to play the game, no idea what to do now?

An easier way, at least for me: In search bar type flight. Right pane will show MSFS.
Right click and go to settings.
Check reset.
Reboot or not.
The program now loads fine for me.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem and the game would not start.
I am using Windows 11 Pro.
Settings/Privacy and Security/Device Encryption/OFF
This solved the problem.
I’m happy if this is helpful.
