The resolution degradation with increasing distance of 3D-Trees is far too aggressive in VR, since SU3

It is an issue that came from a previous Beta.. I don’t see why it being an issue that was accepted and slipped under the radar makes it less important.

I don’t have any issue in 2d but it’s Big deal in VR and the only part of game that is really ugly and distracting

@Azphilosopher Regarding what to give up? Ultra trees shouldn’t do this as aggressively, I say keep this behavior for medium, somewhere in between for high, Ultra should be

@DejaVoodoo7491 We’re only talking about nearby trees, it’s usually only a few trees, maybe 10 to 20 trees max which should be sharper.

That’s right, it’s never 1000 trees, but rather exactly the 15-20 that are around you after landing. The rendering works both at a distance and very close range.

I also don’t know why we have to give something up for this. It worked perfectly up to SU2 and was introduced in one of the last SU3 betas or even in the final version. A 3D tree in ultra settings should also render correctly in VR. If you want to save performance and instead see more aircraft at the airport, you can change that in the settings; that’s what they’re there for.

You act as if this tree issue was the only thing that changed between SU2 and the current beta and yet our performance has had major improvements and flights are far smoother. At least they are for me. In VR with my 4060ti 16gb card I am constantly above 40 FPS, something I could never achieve in SU2 or the initial release. But, in order for that to happen (and lots of other wonderful things) there had to be compromises made. I think you are seeing that compromise now. I remember a few versions back where you would see road traffic spread out for as far as you could see and now the traffic only shows in your immediate area. That’s clearly done to free up resources for better performance.

You’re right, the performance has definitely improved, and limiting things like road traffic is fine with me; it still works and is relatively realistic, since you can no longer see moving vehicles 5km away from the plane  But the tree rendering is simply broken. I miss the old view when I’ve landed and want to look at the immediate surroundings, hence this bug report. I hardly dare look out the window anymore when I’m hovering over a forest in the helicopter. I believe and hope, of course, that they can fix this problem without major performance issues.

Unfortunately, no improvement in Beta 1.7.11.0. Perhaps Asobo has known about Nvidia’s plans for some time and will have DLSS 5 fix it

I find it unfortunate and don’t quite understand why other bug reports with 20 votes are logged during a beta, while this one with 44 votes isn’t logged, simply because the bug was introduced with an official build and I therefore couldn’t submit a beta bug report. At least, that’s how I understand it. Has anyone noticed any improvements in the current build .16?

No improvement. Same in .17.

And same in 1.7.21.0 …

Please log this error; it still exists in SU5.

Wow I can’t believe this has been going on for so long. Guess it’s another one of those “it’s VR so bugs are fine”-bugs =(

Yes, unfortunately there are some bugs that disrupt the immersion of the otherwise beautifully designed nature in MSFS24. Here’s another example: flickering grasses and bushes in the wind in VR.

The flickering grass issue in VR was resolved with Nvidia driver 566.36 for my 4090. No improvement to the trees in SU5.1.

Will it perhaps be included in the next updated list? thanks

No improvement to the trees in SU5.1.

The problem has been resolved in the latest SU6 beta! Many thanks to Asobo—and please test for LOD changes in the future!

Really? That’s great. Bit surprised since I don’t even see a “bug logged” tag on this thread. Kind of makes you wonder what the point of the tag is, but cool, I’ll take it!
