Welcome to the 140th flight event across the GUNNER DOWNUNDER series. This week we will be flying thru the Czech Republic in Europe, and the event is again guaranteed to give you more of the unique and challenging flight experience that you have come to expect from Gunpilot’s flight events.
First time for us to fly in the Czech republic as a group and this week I have targetted this country as it has a lot of skiing snowfields that we will put to good use to land our trusty Grand Caravans on. What more could you ask for than a groomed ski run that is easy to spot and soft to land on. But watch out you don’t land in the moguls 
!!!
The ski season in the Czech Republic, which runs from October to March, can be enjoyed in a total of 23 ski resorts : the majority of which are found along the length of the Czech border. This Central European country—sharing borders with Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland—is literally surrounded by mountains.
The ski areas in the Krkonose mountain range (where we will be flying), located on the Czech-Polish border, are considered as the country’s best skiing with modern amenities and well groomed slopes. Here you’ll find the resorts of Harrachov, Spindleruv Mlyn (Svaty Petr), Pec pod Snezkou, and Zader-Prkenny Dul just waiting to be discovered.
Our challenging flight will be conducted in January, the heart of the European winter season, so expect wintery conditions and be prepared for flying thru falling heavy snow. There will be a number of challenges along the way, including having to land on very steep ski slopes.
It is highly recommended that you go to the #add-ons-and-downloads channel in Gunpilots Discord server GUNPILOT's Server where you will find 5 scenery add-ons that were posted a couple of days ago, which will greatly enhance your MSFS2020 scenery, and the ski lift and pylons add-on ( Project Lifts - Chairlifts, Gondolas and Cablecars of the entire World for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS )will come into great effect in this flight.
*Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click GUNPILOT’s Server to be taken there). Extract file into your Community Folder prior to launching your sim for the flight.
Remember, you will be dropping onto the departure runway in a Cessna Grand Caravan!
