It’s amazing that more and more helicopters are being added to the MSFS 2024 simulator. The helicopter community is very grateful to the development team, Microsoft.
It would be great if we could use the missions shown in the introductory video, I ask the development team to add the missing helicopter missions to the simulator:
The helicopter side of career is a niche within a niche. So the priority to improve stuff is likely very low. Just look at helicopter wishlist or bug topics. Very few interactions on most of them.
And honestly most of the helicopter missions that already exist are working fine. I do a lot of them and rarely run into issues. They did fix several of the big bugs like the SAR boarding sequence causing crashes, people in trees, S-Tier in hoist missions not achievable, improvements to ground effect…
Several of the things you mentioned are also more of a wsihlist topic, not bugs. It sucks that we don’t have a better career for helicopters but we have to be realistic. They had and still have bigger issues to tackle before they can add new stuff. If you follow the development this is no surprise. Personally I don’t expect meaningful improvements in this area before Q3 or 4 of next year
@momos1989 I agree with the topic starter. There are several bugs in career mode that prevent the given mission from being completed.
@IncontnentCamel The promo video advertised helicopter firefighting and land helicopter SAR -HOIST missions, but these are currently unavailable. They misled people, should I say intentional deception? , or did they write somewhere that these will be introduced later?
It’s true that there are many bugs with the simulator. However, according to Jorg, the development team consists of several hundred people, so there should be no problem fixing the bugs…
I agree, the trailer was quite misleading. Like with helicopter firefighting. Jörg even mentioned it in a dev stream but gave only vague answers, without acknowledging that the trailer promised these missions.
We’ve known since launch that this content isn’t in the game, so it’s not really a bug. And with the PS5 release coming up, they’re probably not only limited by developers but also with testing and QA capacity. And adding new features now would be a risky move. Stability should be their priority right now.
It’s coming eventually, just not as soon as we’d like. I’m following the development closely since the launch of 2020 and let me tell you, don’t expect things to happen quickly. Even if promised. You will only be disappointed
They do prioritise them. That’s why they have not been fixed yet. They are probably at the very end of the “to do” list.
They probably shouldn’t have pushed those activities in the intro trailer in that case. The assets had to exist for them to make the video, they still need to join it all up.

I think, if the facts described by Jorg above reflect reality, then in my opinion the solution to the problems is simple.
For example:
Part of the team is working on the career
Part of the team is working on performance optimization
Part of the team is working on airplanes
Part of the team is working on helicopters
I could go on…
It is not normal that many helicopter missions do not work properly or cannot be completed.
Certain missions do not exist, while according to the promo they are available. For example, I switched to the MSFS 2024 simulator because of the helicopter firefighting, land SAR-Hoist, helicopter agricultural missions.
Helicopter firefighting, land SAR-HOIST missions do not exist, helicopter agricultural missions cannot be completed in many cases.
I think this is the first MSFS edition that has used faked “in game” footage to sell the game. Such a disappointment. 2020 trailers were maxed graphics sure, but if you had a top tier rig you could make it look just as advertised. The 2024 trailer was filled with scenes that are just not possible in the game. It was misleading and dishonest marketing.
I hold out hope for things like helicopter firefighting and these detailed land based SARs and hoists. I enjoy the free flight very much. But the franchise has lost my trust.

The fixes sounds/looks like easy stuff (as in comparing 2 databases ish) but maybe not that easy.
Maybe David (career “boss”) said it is all fine and no need for fixes?
We can’t tell as noone from Asobo or Jürgen has ever reacted since Jürgen said in a dev stream it (the “wish list”/fixes list) was “a mess”.
They really owe the helicopter career some very needed love.
When will there be a developer live broadcast? I would like to ask Jorg Neumann for information about the introduction of SAR-HOIST and helicopter firefighting tasks that are missing from land areas.
My Personal Comment & Observation
Considering today is 12/11, and with the holidays fast approaching, I’d not be surprised if the next developer livestream is not until mid-to-late January (or later).
I know it’s not the same as a built in mode but Miltech Simulations has a mission hub where you can create these types of scenarios.
@DROGrevival I bought the Mil Tec Mission Hub add-on. I’ll be honest, it has a lot of shortcomings. It’s not a finished product. I like the Microsoft/Asobo development much better, I trust that they will add the missing missions and further refine the existing ones.
It would be a good idea to ask them live what their plans are for helicopter missions.
That’s fair but they are always improving their products and are open to suggestions.
I still would like to see Asobo implement their own missions of course.
I don’t know anything about the Miltech mission addon, but I just bought the h145 from HPG with the action pack and It’s really great for rescues missions: a lot of scenarios, I don’t thinks I did all, and anyway It’s possible to inject more third party scenarios, depending of the area you can use the hoist or just land, you can set a base, you can choose in what hospital you bring the patient etc..
It doesn’t need anything more to be fun, I hope there will be improvements on the heli side of this mode, and improvments on the whole career mode, the plane side is also not always enjoyable to use
