There Is A Solution

Many many people on this forum have expressed love of this hobby and also disappointment with MS/Asobo’s latest iteration of Flight Simulator. There’s been a lot of water under the bridge since the very first sim by Bruce Artwick. Excitement over that sim was at least equal to the subject at hand. Here’s something that I think has been fallen to the side in recent years. When I was young (many moons ago) a very large part of the business world was run by the “Local” merchants. With that institution came the idea that the merchant served his own best interests by keeping his customers happy. Sadly we see very little of that of late. Never say die!! Microsoft/Asobo have a golden opportunity to mend fences here. Who would refuse a little compensation by way of some free FS2020 aircraft or the like. Let us know what your idea of fair compensation would be. It’s mostly the “Gatekeepers” on this forum who think we have been served with fair value for our money. Have we gotten fair value? I think we’re about 50/50 on this. Anyhow we might hear a little less grousing if we felt we had our money’s worth.
Tell me what you think…

So anyone who doesn’t agree with you is a “gatekeeper” now? Seriously?

It’s ok to have different opinions. A lot of people are genuinely happy with the sim (myself included).

The jaded pessimist in me says if Asobo ever release any more aircraft (for example, helicopters) they’ll be store purchases. And even though there’s been threads mentioning how premium deluxe…isn’t, nothing will be added to the premium deluxe content to make up for the 787 missing most of it’s switches or the Longitude missing an entire fuel tank (still). Microsoft sees this as a success…for the simple reason that they’re not giving refunds. The only thing that’d make the suits sit up and take notice and actually want to mend fences would be a class action suit.

Edit: And even though this post is perfectly respectful and on topic, watch how long it takes to get flagged.

I’m not disappointed in any way and I don’t need compensation. I believe I have value for money, and will wait patiently for what Asobo/ have promised… edit which I believe is a roll out of some fixes, nation updates and a livery pack.

Stop with the polarization. It’s not necessary at all. You need to accept that different people can have different opinions. You might disagree, but it makes neither of us fundamentally wrong.

I have had 2 crashes (because I undervolted my GPU a bit too much), all patches have installed without issues, and downloads were as fast as my bandwidth could handle (might be because I bought it on Steam, don’t know).
Some planes have issues, sure, so I just pick another plane. I have plenty to choose from.

My point is this; I bought the sim for the full €120,-. With the 2 hour flight I just landed in the TBM (a flight with 0 problems, IFR, AP) my profile just ticked up to 122 hours.
That’s less than 1 euro per hour. I call that GREAT value for money.
How many hours have you clocked in so far?

Every day I get more disapointed in this product. After working fine yesterday, now it will not even open. I start and get a CDT without the first screen coming up. I have spent more time trying to get it to run then I do flying. This is purly a software issue. I was a tech alpha, alpha and beta tester and have been using the sim on the same computer and equipment since the tech alpha was releaed a year ago. The tech alpha and the first two alphas were the best sim out there and I never, repeat NEVER had a CDT untill the third alpha. and then only once. With the release version, I have spent more time downloading, updating and trying to get the sim to run properly then I do flying. In the alpha I had over 250 hours of using the sim. To date I barly been able to fly 30 hours do to all of the issues. What is the answer, the closed beta only lasted a few weeks. This software was no where ready for release to the public and mosts of us were shocked that it was. Forget free aircraft for compensations, they just need to fix the thing or take it off the market until they do.

Well, they are upgrading scenery and resolution upgrades which in my opinion is BIG. Also improving the SDK to improve community development, so also a big positive.

@PapaTango51
Would you please reconsider your opening post and edit it to avoid polarisation. If you want support from all users, I ask myself why you deemed it necessary to call some users ‘Gatekeepers’.
If you are not willing to edit, please elaborate to explain why you used that term. Thank you.

No venom intended but I’ve logged 110 hrs plus quite a few more that did’nt get recorded for CTD or logbook erroe etc.

I’m not asking for support nor am I trying to accomplish anything but the possibility of some compensation from MS/Asobo. How am I polarizing? either you feel one way or the other …your choice.

I do think this was unnecessary and hard to think not deliberately triggering.

In fairness, there are the extremists on both sides. You have the malcontents who you wouldn’t be able to please no matter how perfect something is and they’re constantly whining and moaning about irrelevant stuff that hardly matters. They’d make good wives.

Then there are the apologists. People can be reporting genuine problems and issues in a very productive manner, and they get jumped on by these guys blaming them for the problems they’re having and evangelizing MSFS as if it were sheer perfection and fellating Asobo at every chance they get. If someone posts something they don’t agree with, they pile on the posts flagging them like they were indeed the gatekeepers of what people are allowed to see about MSFS.

As with all things in life, the truth is somewhere in the middle. It’s nowhere near as bad as the doom and gloom naysayers make it out to be, but also nowhere near being the nirvana that the others fool themselves into thinking it is. I’m not going to point fingers at any individual, this latter group most definitely sees themselves as the gatekeepers and feel it necessary to shoot down pretty much anything they see as dissent against their beloved sim.

This much is obvious  and I agree, both are not very helpful.
That’s what irks me though. Any one starts calling out the other, normally leads to a derailed conversation, which doesn’t help anyone.

And there you go namecalling again. It’s not helping you in making a fair point.

Jeez man, what’s the point

Just going to delete my post above which was actually agreeing with you and trying to have a sensible conversation.

It’s your point. I don’t have to 100% agree with it, but I can understand the sentiment behind your post.

You would probably get more people to agree with you if you were less abrasive about it.

I’m not offend by anything that has been said here

Hi Everyone

A quick reminder, the Code of Conduct requires you to treat your fellow users with respect. This means no name-calling.

If I have to come back, I’ll be issuing warnings.
