Thinking about a PC build

Is that gigabyte 4080 super at 1k the standard price, I mean was that the original price or has it shot up over time?
Might go for it, just need to forget quickly how much it cost!

I recommend purchasing a larger and better case that won’t limit the possibility of installing a bigger graphics card now and in the future.
Be Quiet Silent Base 802 will be far superior to the MSI Gungnir 110R you’ve chosen.

Im tight on space as it is, I cant go larger on case and im happy with it, don’t see anything wrong with it myself.
This is my first pc in years, so im not planning on upgrading anything any time soon, so want to get a decent spec now really so im covered into the future.

Obviously things could change after that event later, but I think if prices don’t budge, I might just get the 4070ti super, hopefully it would be fine playing at 4k, i’m not chasing the best graphics/frames, im just looking for a very good upgrade over my xbox series x.

The 4070ti super is cheaper as well and could be cheaper soon.

Would the below be something to consider?

It’s cheaper as well, lol. its my first pc build and I want to keep my budget in check.

Im leaning towards a gigabyte card as they are more readily available for me, but undecided on the different variants, there is the 4070ti super windforce, eagle and gaming OC.
The latter seems to be slightly more expensive.

Being able to overclock a silicon-based chip depends in part on the number of manufacturing defects it has. It’s called ‘binning.’ With GPU’s the best chips are binned for the higher-end manufacturers and especially for their OC cards (assuming the card is actually overclocking, and not just marketed as such.)

That explain (at least in part) the price variability.

You made a great choice by selecting gpu from Gigabyte, as I suggested earlier

Keep in mind that GPU models can vary not only in clock speeds for GPU and memory but also in their cooling systems.

According to >14.000 benchmarks.
The Asus Proart RTX 4070Ti Super produces the best benchmarks.
The Gigabyte RTX4070Ti Super has lower performance.

You might want to clarify your comparison since you listed the exact model for the Asus card (Asus ProArt RTX 4070 Ti Super) but referred only to the family for Gigabyte (Gigabyte RTX 4070 Ti Super). Gigabyte RTX 4070 Ti Super is a series of cards with multiple models so specifying the exact Gigabyte model would make the comparison more accurate and meaningful.
Additionally, you didn’t include a link to the benchmarks you mentioned which would help support your claim.

Personally, I prefer silence and inaudible coils in Gigabyte graphics cards over gaining just 1 extra FPS.

According to users benchmarks the Asus Proart performs best in several configurations.

The website Userbenchmark is an insignificant and unreliable source of information and its results should not be taken seriously or used as a basis for making decisions.

Don’t want to take this thread too far off topic, what’s an unbiased alternative?

Stock seems to vary wildly at the moment. Some retailers will suddenly have a load of 4080’s & the like, then a few days later nothing. Prices for new cards are therefore also highly variable. 4090’s are largely unavailable anywhere, although Amazon list a few around £2,500 - £3,000 - silly money.
One established retailer today has load of 4070 ti Supers priced between £775 - £900 and zero mainstream 4080’s or 4090’s. They will sell you a very tacky limited edition 4090, but the website doesn’t mention if they are actually in stock, and just says “Call for Price.”
Things will probably settle a bit once the 5000 cards are out, but finding and buying a GPU in the UK today is a bit of a lottery.

Of course - I am not trying to claim that the 4070 ti or 4070 ti Super are not capable of running 4K, merely that other cards can and will be better, depending on the use case and the rest of the PC build.
In the OP’s case and with a 9800X3D, the 4070ti (non-super, as was originally mentioned) is not the best card for 4K, and will be struggling to keep up with the CPU.

I have the 7800x3d now, and will either get a 4070ti super or 4080 super. most likely the former, as its cheaper.
With the recent Nvidia keynote, im not sure much has changed in my decision making, I don’t think prices will drop on the 40 series anytime soon?

When building a rig all your components has to match with each other.
Not everybody has the money to build a super game computer with only top of the bill parts.
The first thing to do is determining your budget.
Then buy the parts that are matching each other.
