This is how MFS 2024 runs on Series X

The next XBX refresh is rumoured to be 2028 and that’s supposedly a proper cloud hybrid model….

I know what you mean. I’ve had bleeding edge gaming rigs before and especially with Flight Simulator (FSX) it became like a second job to spend hours constantly tweaking it to try to achieve a certain level of performance. With FSX, I definitely spent far more time tweaking my system than I did actually flying the sim.

That’s the advantage of a fixed-spec dedicated machine like the XBOX. Every unit is exactly the same and all resources can be dedicated to running the task at hand instead of running a bloated desktop operating system and a slew of background tasks.

Indeed, I have gaming laptop I got last year, which I almost regret purchasing, due to my desire to keep wanting to check everything is up to date, every time I turn it on, and thats before I worry about if Im running the optimal settings when Im playing a game, and even then I have no idea what each setting does!

Console is just so much easier and relaxing, I just want and hope Asobo get the sim to what I think its capable of on series x. There is definitely a middle ground somewhere to be had so we are all happy playing it on the xbox.

We have another video comparing Xbox version to PC:

Some comparisons are legit, but come on, the first example is just an unfinished product. Xbox are really the “left aside”

Seems this is going to be fixed in next weeks update.

a lot of hope riding on next weeks update, me included. blurry textures, xbox performance, fluid game play and get our add ons back. I sure hope they dont keep them disabled until an undetermined time in early 2025 for the MP launch

Hey, have you tried increasing the rolling cache? I’m on Series X and increased it from 16gb to 150gb, and made a huge improvement on appearance and performance. For best effect: Increase rolling cache size via the “online” options list in the main menu. Close the game, and go to the game’s storage and delete the cache (Reserved space). Start the game again and enjoy a fresh cache with a much better looking and performing MSFS 2024.

I consider myself lucky to have been too busy to try using MSFS 2024 on Xbox since the day of release. On Nov 19th I guess I was early because I did succeed in installing it, but nothing worked once I loaded in. I gave it several hours of trying various things and just gave up.

So yesterday with a bit of free time I factory reset and did a clean new install on Xbox X. Install was ok. I did the initial setup, which had a lot of stuttering. Once logged in, I took screen shots of all the settings screens, and then rebooted so that the Premium Deluxe content would appear.

First annoyance is even the MSFS loading screens have heavy stutters, even when they have looped several times. I can understand stutters I assume due to streaming the first time one of the scenes plays, but not when it repeats.

I loaded in to the 172 at a parking spot (I forget where) just to play with the controller settings and key bindings. CTD as I was scrolling the list of keyboard inputs while customizing a particular binding.

Rebooted and decided to load in to a flight, started in Walk Around mode, moved the mouse which then put the view permanently down my avatar’s feet and then unable to change. Finally got out of that view, then CTD.

I shut it off. Looking at the box my Xbox X came in wondering if I should just sell it so that at least someone can enjoy it for the holidays. I had always planned on upgrading to a dedicated PC for MSFS / XPlane, but honestly I’ve lost interest at this point. There were a few months where things worked ok in 2020, but otherwise, just endless troubleshooting, and that seems to be how things will be for another year if history is my guide. Disappointing.

If it is (only for PC)

In this post Navigraph tema explains how, although they have made the developments for Xbox, Microsoft has prevented them from making them available to customers

Have you tried the new flightplanner ? it’s amazing and literally a game changer on Xbox. You can even share your flight plans with other players. Lots of features, options, easy to use and huge potential. It’s a great job by Working Title and for once it seems something they’ve done to ease the life of Xbox pilots.

How do you get them loaded onto the flight sim, is it via the world map EFB, or can it be done in an aircraft like the 172?

I too was hopeful that an improved console may have been announced but I suspect that won’t happen any time soon.
As you say it’s difficult to know how the game will run on Xbox in a few months and therefore if it’s worth spending the money on a PC or not. That being said, if 2024 gets worse over the years like 2020 did I think PC will be the way to go.

I am all but convinced the Series X is underperforming in its current state. I do think it should improve (perhaps before regressing like 2020).

Hopefully patch 3 and future optimizations help

I’ve noticed for me that career mode graphics look better than in free flight

I caught bits and pieces of the dev stream from yesterday, I heard when Jorg said the marketplace was delayed until next year. Not happy about it, but fine take the time to get it right. What I didn’t hear/read was if they are going to make our marketplace airports/scenery available again before the marketplace goes live?

I know the big patch next week/week after is supposed to allow us the ability to download, but are they going to re-release the scenery to us as well? A bunch of my smaller market airports looked great in 2024 and its rather dull flying into the default ones.

Agreed. Hoping so

I definitely have another EFB then… it doesn’t transmit to the avionics, it doesn’t receive from the avionics, it makes mistakes in the route calculations, it doesn’t show the ascent or descent plan… in my case it’s simply not useful at all, but unfortunately I can’t use Navigraph either because Microsoft doesn’t allow it (I already uploaded a reference where Navigraph explains it clearly)

I hope we stop justifying the poor product we have on Xbox

By the way, in today’s developer presentation they talked about a patch from December 2 (that never happened on Xbox) and that there would be a third patch on December 10 or 12 and they would leave it like that, then, indirectly Microsoft and Asobo tell us Xbox users "yes… it doesn’t work on Xbox, but we won’t do anything about it” though we paid the same price to receive the same product

Yes… and that when they load the complete textures (which is practically never)

For reference… this is how the Empire State Building still looks like
