This is how MFS 2024 runs on Series X

On the last development update they put a link were you can make question which they can answer on the next dev livestream. Let’s use it until they do something about all our issues.

So… slowly it looks like this topic is less and less active. It seems that their strategy is to not acknowledge anything and everybody got a bit tired in the end. I really feel sad about this and how the business is evolved to this point.

I filled in the form for the next dev update with some good and reasonable questions but I have no expectations at all at this point.

To keep this topic the most valid of all;

Are you guys able to complete two consecutive Free Flights in a row or does the sim just not work right when you try?

Also, how often do you see this when exiting to the main menu?

I thought it only happened after attempting two consecutive Free Flights but the other day it happened after just a normal (Free) flight.

Yes I can

I also deleted the sim and reinstalled again today and it’s running & looking a fair amount better after doing so. Tho definitely still work. There’s some stuttering when using a helo. Also still missing a lot of 2020 sceneries. Every day hoping a new transfer notification will appear

When I try, it acts like its going to work but then it just stays at the Flight Planner map but it has a different look. I always just zoom into an airport and click on a parking spot and choose ‘Fly Now’ and it zooms in like it does and then I do the Pre Flight and then I fly and then I’ll choose ‘End Flight’ but from that point on I cannot make any more flights. If I go to the Main Menu I can usually choose ‘Photographer Mode’ or whatever (provided the main menu is there)

What do you do different if I may ask?

Hi there.

I don’t do any pre flight nor choose ramp starts in most cases. what I do is go to the world map, zoom to a runway of my chosen airport & click fly now.

I don’t use other modes on the whole, once in a great while I try others

I just stopped playing it. Too much time dealing with all kind of problems and bugs. Not worth it, to be honest.

Been contemplating the same, the LOD problems, textures not loading in properly and instead flashing on and off, or certain third party aircraft’s causing sound stuttering and static - these alone are killing the experience for me. Also, anytime you get into anything other than a small GA aircraft, the fps are all over the place, accompanied by pauses and stutters which are sometimes a second long!

I have never dared try more than one consecutive flight in 2020 or 2024 without first restarting the Xbox. The exception to this is multi-leg flights where I land, park, shut down the engines, set up for the next flight, restart the engines and carry on. That works well but as soon as you return to the menu in either sim you’ve had it, especially in 2024 where it freezes after you try to return to the menu

The thread could well be slowing down as we are sounding like broken records. Also, many people (myself included) are flying on 2020 90% of the time

Regarding Just Flight Vulcan:

I’ve also stopped using MSFS 2024 for a month now. I will install it again when SU1 comes out. Not much else to say or add, the game is in a really bad shape on XSX and only large patches can help here.

I used to spend hours playing most days, but now I’m lucky if I manage an hour a week. And that’s in 2020. It’s been well over a week since I last played.

I really hoped things would improve, but after the promises leading up to 2024 and the disappointment now two months after its launch, my passion for the hobby has decayed.

I’m certain this was not their desired result.

I might be only one, but I know I’m not the only one.

My hope is that this can turn around in the future.

But is it only hopium at this point?

Same. I have even stopped playing MSFS 2020 on my XSX, a game I’ve spent about 500 hours in.

The release of 2024 was a breaking point for me where I gradually lost interest in the franchise because the developers don’t seem to care about Xbox version anymore. They still haven’t acknowledged Xbox version issues - 2 months after release.

Months away from this forum and everything seems the same. I have definitely divorced this SIM.

Problems start as soon as you use a big aircraft, or after you make 2-3 flights with a small one. The auto-LOD system just refuses to take quality back up and everything starts looking washed out or even popping in and out. Even the hangar has trouble displaying all the elements.

Once they fix the auto-LOD bug, things will get better.

And once they fix the annoying mouse sensitivity. For now, flying 2024 in Xbox is a patience test.

Fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

Exactly this. The big aircraft seem even worse in career. Just tried the 737, what a slide show that was. Blurry to boot.

I installed 2024 via my Gamepads subscription while keeping 2020 also installed.

I tried a couple of flights in 2024, posted some questions, found out everyone is struggling on Xbox (and PC), started to get super frustrated, and started to actually yell at the screen a little bit.

THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING is not being able to use a controller stick like a mouse on the UI. Oh, and not being able to easily change my controller profiles or sensitivity. The latter issue seems to be a problem with me not studying the issue in enough depth or the time to get everything set up – but the process only took me a few minutes to learn in 2020.

Anyway, I realized that nobody is forcing me to switch away from 2020.

So I uninstalled 2024 and haven’t looked back. MSFS 2020 works like a dream on my Xbox X. I’ve been assured that it’s not leaving Gamepads, and if it does, I’ll purchase it first.

I realize the community will likely pass me by soon, but I’m just flying for myself. I have 625 flight hours in 2020 and can easily see an equal amount coming in the next couple years.

I’ll keep tabs on things and see if a move to 2024 is worth it some time in the future.
