Hmm i checked and it looked fine last night. Perf was noticeably lower but still higher than 2020 at a similar airport. (This is almost certainly due to my aging cpu, poor 11700k is very much outclassed now)
There’s a lot of funkiness that appears to happen if the sim has issues grabbing data
So far all the issues visible during the technical alpha and all live stream events are still present.
People sticking out of aircraft being one of the most obvious.
Freelook using the mouse is out of control
bindings needing to be redone.
janky click spots
mandatory walk arounds
numerous errors in career mode
These appear to be solid bugs that are going to be with us a while if they have not been fixed in the interim.
Yeah, I wasn’t sure if it was streaming problem or a data problem. I thought maybe it was the latter since it happened on two separate days. Oh well, thanks for confirming that KSEA looks good for at least some people. Hope there is an underlying root cause that they can fix.
I am still to have a single flight. According to Steam, only 65% of users achieved that, and even this number is tilted: I am one of them, as the sim technically loaded once, just without ground or aircraft.
The true number of users who ever experienced a single flight is somewhere between 0 and 65%, and I would not be suprised id it were way closer to zero than 2/3.
I’ve definitely had airports where I’ve seen the terminal load in as I get dropped in, so seems like there are some issues with streaming from time to time. Also looks like for now the download function isn’t currently working so that probably isn’t helping matters.
once things settle I suspect the best way to do things is to have all aircraft locally (they’re pretty small packages for standard aircraft at least) and if possible one or two of the most relevant world updates.
After waiting about 15 minutes just for the game to load, the first thing I notice is that the framerate is absolutely abysmal. It’s more jittery than a caffeine addict with Parkinson’s. They also apparently disabled the ability to select things with the cursor. Now you have to hit a separate button to select anything else. So after it took about 5 solid minutes just to be able to select my airports due to the framerate, I select my aircraft and press start to fly. Boom, game time instantly crashes.
After waiting another 20+ minutes to get back to the main menu, I do all that again. After another 5 minutes of the game loading, I am now on the tarmac doing my inspection, once again at a framerate so low it’s like someone has to draw each frame by hand. The first thing I notice is that nothing loads properly, everything is a pixelated mess for about 15 seconds before it finally loads. The next thing I notice is that I can’t actually inspect any of my aircraft parts. The little window pops up and I press and hold A to inspect and nothing happens. I can see a little circle trying to fill but it gets about 1% full then resets instantly like it’s having a seizure.
Once again, the cursor mode does nothing. I am not able to highlight or select anything with it. At that point I just gave up and decided the game is too broken to even function in its current state.
I don’t know where you come from but where I come from when we pay for something there is a reasonable contract of providing the service of good within a reasonable time. Also when I go to a concert that I pay a significant amount of money for, I usually turn up 20 minutes before so I can buy a beer and chat with my friends… I don’t stand around for hours in a line doing nothing. Maybe where you come from this is normal.
No one here is going to convince you that this is an absolute shambles reagrdless of the fact that thousands of people on this forums are reporting that almost 24 hours after launch.
Yes, and ‘reasonable’ depends on the circumstances. When so many users choose to download at the same time, you are always going to have significant congestion. That’s an objective fact, borne out by the evidences. And, as we have seen here, there will always be those who insist on contributing to the logjam. Relax, chum. Wait until they’ve gone. Could take a few more days. So what? In a month, no one will be talking about this any more.
You forget that Microsoft said it would be ready on the 19th. They didn’t stipulate that it wouldn’t actually run then, only that you could download something on the 19th! Do you think 90% of the purchasers are simply going to give up?
Its interesting you seem to have a field of crops there. I thought having fields growing and changing colours with the seasons was supposed to be a feature but I haven’t seen it anywhere yet. The fields I’ve landed in have looked worse up close than FS2020.
I heard there was a concert from my favorite band a year ago. Really excited when I was able to book my expensive ticket and looking forward to the concert. The day came. I got a bus to the station, got a train to the arena. I waited outside in a queue for 3 hours. Finally we we inside the stadium. The band didn’t turn up and was told to come back tomorrow!
Imagine buying a car on the release day but told it wouldn’t run because too many others bought one that day too and they couldn’t get that many engines ready.
And don’t blame it on servers - Microsoft knew how many people bought it and, if anyone does, they should know the capacity of their servers. There are lots of ways they could have brought it out but they chose this method. I see no way that this server-based approach will work!
I’m in the UK too. I got it loaded but it won’t do anything. I waited over 12 minutes for it to simply load a 172 onto a runway and it never did so I gave up. MSFS 2020 took 3:22!
We can come up with all the analogies we can… concerts is a common one but thats based on a ‘known number’ and we’ll gloss over that but quite simply…
Microsoft/Asobo hyped up the launch but grossly underestimated demand on the infrastructure and evidently did not test properly to worst case scenarios.
Quite a few less than they had last night at launch, myself included. This whole thing was put out half baked in the name of corporate greed. “The project is getting expensive and we need some money coming back in. Let’s sell what we can and let them pay us to finish it up over the course of the next year”. Sorry I feel used, if they complete their job then maybe I’ll come back and spend the money at that point. This is far beyond a little bit of spit and polish to finish the disaster. The impressive new graphics are frankly a joke, nicer trees on 2020 terrain . Zero control mapping, clunky interface, lack of support = far from a finished product.
