Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines

This is a bit of a passion project as the film brings back some good memories of my late father.

These are the first three, all flew albeit not very well or far  These are all still WIP

Picat Dubreuil

Passat Ornithopter

Santos Dumont Demoiselle

Love it - the aircraft and the film.

Would buy!

To think some of the machines used in the film are still flying at the Shuttleworth Collection… I do hope you’ll do the full list of machines Tony Hancock flew!

Yes they are, I’ve seen them fly a couple of times. Sadly the Avro triplane had an accident recently (pilot is ok). I do plan on doing as many as I can, If there is enough interest I will put these in packs of three on the MP.

Clicking on the photo of Brigette opens the tablet in the Demoiselle

Surely you mean Ingrid, Marlene, Françoise, Yvette, or is it Betty?

Really looking forward to these! Out of interest are you modelling them based on their real world performances or the replicas built for the film?

A bit of both, most of the 3d models are based on the movie replicas which slightly differ from the original aircraft, performance is, well mostly guess work unless the specs are on the web.

These are the planned aircraft from the movie, which one should I do next ?

Lee-Richards Annular Biplane

Antionette

Avro Triplane

Bristol Boxkite

Blackburn Monoplane

Deperdussin Monoplane

Dixon Nipper

Eardley-Billing-Biplane

Vickers Bleriot 22

Was your father involved in making of the film?

The Dixon Nipper looks to be the most unique of them all. It looks like something out of Dr. Suess.

Not that I’m aware (just a huge fan of the movie), but he was involved with movies as the official photographer like the Dirty Dozen. We lived only a few miles from Booker where it was filmed and I know he met with Tony Bianchi.

my choice would be the Blackburn Monoplane and the Bleriot.

I’d say any of the one’s that are still flying in R/L. Would be great if you could get the avaitar pilots to look like the movies stars! and if you could get a scenery developer ‘on board’ and do a reconstruction of the Brookley Motor Racing Track as it was portrayed in the film, including sewage farm!

.

I hoping that GotFreinds come up with something that can allow us to edit the avitars a biut more… That would be awsome if a scenery dev could do something

I was reading about the film and I didnt realize that the motorbike scene was actually a real accident ! but they kept it in the movie.

My favourite lines are Sir Percy saying to Courtney, after sending out a young lady with the French Pilot:
Courtney: Oh, ho, ho - I’ll bet she’s a bit of all right, guv’nor.

Sir Percy Ware-Armitage: You should know - she’s your daughter

Very excited for these releases, especially the Avro Triplane. Sad I’ll never get to see it fly irl but glad it will live on in the sim. Will be great to fly it around BBD’s Old Warden addon. And the rest will look right at home with the new Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome addon that just came out.

In any case, the pilot didn’t get a warm seat in the Demoiselle.
Greetings from the test

It’s actually hard to imagine that the ornithopter ever flew, but it’s said to have managed a few meters.
Greetings from the test phase

Have to say that I love your passion for these strange obscure aircraft.

Hello, from my perspective, I would love to see all of these aircraft in the simulator over the next few years :-).
I like your aircraft very much, and those unique vehicles are worth flying to honor these brave pioneers.
But I am aware of other projects that are more important to your business. Therefore, here is a rough priority list:

  1. Vickers Bleriot 22
  2. Deperdussin Monoplane
  3. Blackburn Monoplane
  4. Antionette
  5. Avro Triplane
  6. Eardley-Billing-Biplane
  7. Dixon Nipper
  8. Bristol Boxkite
  9. Lee-Richards Annular Biplane
