I have tha TCA throttle quadrant and rudder pedals so the twist grip on the side stick was only used for taxiing. However with the twitching problem the TCA side stick is renowned for I tried using the throttle slider on the side stick for nose wheel steering. A little strange at first, but now I’m used to it I’m quite liking it. It’s nice to take your hand off the stick for ground steering in the airliners. Anyone else tried this?
I thought about it, but hadn’t tried yet. I may now that someone has successfully done it ![]()
I might give it ago. Mine is currently set as landing gear up/down
Been doing this forever since the tiller axis was added to the game, since I don’t have ruder pedal.
A bit clunky, but I have gotten used to it, in fact I have moded the slider so that there is a tactile groove near the center point, not exactly perfect but close enough, with a bit of deadzone, works pretty good.
And the twitchy pot drove me mad as well, I tried all known tricks so many times, so again after suffering for a year, i moded it with a hall sensor and a few small disk magnets, it’s not very elegant, and calibrating it properly is a pain, and a lot of trial and error, but once I hit the right spot, I didn’t have any more issue with the twist axis. Been runing this setup since more than a year now without any issues.
I did adjust the sensitivity settings for a smoother turn. Now I keep the side stick locked.
Absolutely!
Throttle slider on TCA Stick has been my Fenix A320 ‘tiller’ for ages. Does the job.
The component placement/design of the z-axis twist rudder control is abysmal (plus I have quality rudder pedals).
