Hi
I fly the excellent DC6 a lot, but have come across the non-response of all throttles (both HC Bravo and keyboard) after time on the ground. Also can’t move throttles by mouse even. The engines are running and normal, but just no throttle..
any ideas as to what causes this?
Check the gust lock and make sure it is not engaged.
Yes definitely not that thanks.
Mixture, Prop levers, ignition etc all set as for T/off…no changes (that I could see anyway)
No where near an expert only two flights with one crash and one successful but really bad landing. But have you made sure the AFE is not controlling the throttles? Have you checked the PMDG forums and tutorials?
Same here… many controls functionally/visibly inop… It’s kinda like when the AFE is ‘on’, except even “he” cannot do things like set flaps. He calls out “flaps 20” but neither the control lever moves, nor flaps themselves. Oddly, I can hear the engines spool up when advancing the throttles (throttle quadrant), but the throttle levers do not move.
Seems there is no escaping this bug, once it bites, other than to shut down completely (resetting flight doesn’t even work)..
Did you check the throttle lock?
Yes.. the throttle issue was just one example.. nearly all controllable things, cannot be used.
Another example: When the flaps lever was inop, I checked the hydraulic bypass… and even it cannot be manipulated..
If you ‘abort’ the AFE after pre-take-off checks so that you can advance the throttles yourself, does that remove all functions of the AFE? I.e. such that he/she is no longer controlling functions?
that’s what I do, but I’m wondering if this conflicts somehow.
interesting you ask…I see on the PMDG forum the same issue and apparently the AFE had set the lock (for whatever reason)…when I hop back in tonight, I’ll check this!!
thanks
That how puzzling this is… after the bug bites, there is no aborting the AFE… I can’t even move the panel..
Had the same issue once. Now I’m in the state to do everything by myself and no need of the AFE anymore.
yes…haven’t got up to that stage with this a/c yet!
I had the same issue yesterday. It seems AFE can get stuck and leave some things not completed.
In my case I could not set propeller pitch. Abort didn’t work and only workaround was reloading the flight.
I’m avoiding AFE completely and it’s a good thing so I learn to fly the thing.
I’m having an issue with a couple of switches. Going through tutorial 2 and trying the reverse option instead of pushback. I can’t move the lever. Same is true for the altitude control. It will not move (Gyro pilot does).
Am I missing something?
Regarding the reverse … I did this on my last DC6 flight and it caught me out - the throttles have to be pulled all the way back to idle before the reverse pitch will engage. In a normal start, they’re advanced slightly. After scratching my head for a bit I finally figured this out and it worked as expected!
Brilliant. I’ll try it. Got the altitude lever to work. Obviously my condition on the ground is not relevant to try it. When climbing it worked.
I’m experiencing the same issues with the throttles. It only happens on some flights and not others! After engaging the disengaging the AFE, it won’t let me move the throttles. It’s such a shame to have to abort after an hour of flying. Still love the aircraft though.
Check the throttle lock. He sometimes leaves it on.
You sir are a legend! Was exactly that.
It still catches me out!
