Thrustmaster tca quadrant single or four engines question

Hi All,

I am looking to pick up a tca quadrant in the new year to go with my tca joystick and I have a question for those with twin throttles as to how a twin throttle is used for single and four engine aircraft?

With twin engines I imagine there’s no issues but what do you do with a single engine? Can you just use throttle one for engine 1 and the other throttle for mixture? Also with a twin throttle one is engine 1 and throttle two will be engine 2 but with a four engine type you need throttle one to be 1 & 2 and throttle two to be 3 & 4.

Now I can see that this can be set up in the mapping but do you need to change the mapping each time when switching aircraft types or is this accounted for in a configuration somewhere?

Yes, you need to change the configuration each time for use with the different profile for the applicable aircraft.

It’s relatively easy as each profile which you create will have a different name. So it’s just a matter of activating that profile before you flight.

And yes, for a single engine you could use one axis for throttle and the other for something else e.g. trim, brake etc.

Multiple engines can also be assigned to the same axis if you so need.

Ah, of course!

Thanks AthenaGrey. Never having cause to use it before I forgot about setting up and saving the controller profiles.

I just need to find a quadrant for sale in the U.K. now
