Thrustmaster TCA Throttle Quadrant USB device not recognised error

Don’t want to jinx it - but mine is behaving so far with mods, A320 FBW mod and also FSUIPC7 running with little nav map..

It may have just been a bad batch unfortunately. I haven’t had a response back from TM this week and it seems most websites may be getting stock around March but it’s put me off a bit tbh. I love the sidestick but can’t justify another £90 on a replacement quadrant.

Have any of you tried to replace the usb that came with it? I was having the same issue and swapped the usb out and I haven’t had problems for a couple weeks.

Ah, thanks - you might have a point! I have now just tried plugging it in via a different cable and it was suddenly recognised, so maybe it was indeed a problem with the cable the device came with. I’ll test it further over the coming days and see what happens. It’s looking promising right now, but I’ll keep you posted!

This worked for me once on my DOA unit for a day then the unit completely died.. so i think there is a quality issue with the cable… definately.. that could be causing the unit to die… i am supplying 500mA to it via USB 3 and so far my replacement unit is behaving fine.

Thanks for the tip! I have tried my Amazon Kindle & S8 charger, both resulted in ‘USB not recognised’ errors but maybe those are not powerful enough for the device? I have ordered a USB-C cable from Amazon and will update my comments over the next few days.

After a few hours apparently communicating over the new cable, unfortunately it’s the same again - ‘USB device not recognised’. :pensive: I’ll keep trying though and will let you know if there are any developments.

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver (since using the new cable) to see if that helps?

I had no idea this thread would gain some momentum!! seems i am not the only one out there…

Thanks for starting the topic! Even if we can’t get our quadrant’s resolved, at least we’ve tried and shared others suggestions. I’m not holding out much hope for the new cable but you never know!

Yes, I’ve been uninstalling and re-installing drivers like there’s no tomorrow  I’ve also been trying to restart the computer in between each (un)installation, but unfortunately it just seems to be very temperamental.

I’d like to second the thanks for starting the topic! The tips are very useful, and it’s good to know we’re not alone with the problem. It’s also interesting that we seem to be in roughly the same part of the world and may have received our devices around the same time, which points more and more towards a bad batch…

I received mine about 3 weeks ago (after it being stuck in UPS depot for a week lol). I should be getting my cable tomorrow, (good ol’ Amazon) and will see if I can get my quadrant up and running but I’m not confident. It’s bizarre, when it is up and running, it works perfectly.

New USB-C cables have just arrived, fingers crossed. I did see someone post on the FlightSimLabs forums our exact issue too! I also requested an update from TM as I’ve had no reply at all this week.

Ok, driver reinstalled, restarted PC, connected the new USB-C cable and quadrant recognised straight away. This could be a fluke, I’ll try testing over the weekend!

Anyone getting or using Volanta? by ORBX?

Well glad to see I’m not alone here, received my quadrant 3 days ago and have reloaded drivers, swapped USB ports, and updated firmware. Unit just disconnects at random. Was working all day today, thought it was licked then right after touchdown of a 2 hr flight it lost it. TM has replied and said it may be a faulty cable and suggested trying it in another computer, like I have spare gaming systems sitting about. Waited since Oct for this and so completely ticked off with it. Also have the add-ones with it.
