To AMD Flyers. Whats you're performance like with a 3700X?

EDITED: To make the post cleaner with my specs and FPS numbers

So I’m wondering what people are getting with similar specs considering the low-clock-frequency of this CPU. Seen a few people with lower spec Intel CPUs but higher clock frequency getting better framerates.

Specs:

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (OC’d to 4.15ghz)
ASRock Extreme 4 x570 Motherboard
32GB 3600mhz Trident Z RAM
RTX 2080 MSI Gaming Trio
Installed on Samsung SSD with Rolling cache on a different SSD

Running 2560x1440 Resolution, High-End default settings with resolution scaling to 100. Traffic on default

Launch-Day-Numbers :
FPS in JFK - 40-48 FPS with the Yellow CUB.
FPS in NY - 50 FPS AVG with slight dips to 45-48 around the high-rise buildings.
FPS in KDEN - 50-55 FPS Average.
FPS at EGLL - 40-48 FPS Average

At the moment, Night flying I tried around Heathrow Airport, my FPS didn’t dip, was shocked.

I do get 2 or 3 second pauses now and then, at the moment I’m contributing that to Downloading the Scenery around me or updates to traffic.

I haven’t messed around with settings such as Terrain vector to see if it makes a difference yet but the point of the post was really just to see how people with AMD CPUs compared to our Intel friends to see if clock speeds are actually making a difference. Thanks for each and every single reply people, I appreciate it.

Hi, my config: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x / Nvidia GTX 1060 /3GB / 32 GB 3200Mhz RAM. Sim works great with that.

What exactly is ‘great’ in your case? And for @vackillers5064, too, what’s your framerates?

I’m asking because I’m about to finish the build of dedicated computer to MSFS: 3700X 2070 Super 32GB (not finished yet).

If CPU is a bottleneck perhaps I can squeeze a little more performance going with a 3800X instead.

I have asrock tichi x570 mobo, with the 3700X coupled with a 5700XT GPU and 32 GB ram and 1TB SSD. At 4k on untra with rendering set at 70 I get about 45fps. no stutters at all.

I’m using a 55" Samsung TV.
I also run it on rendering 80, but even at 70, its a lot clearer for me then 1440 at 100 rendering.

Edit: And to be honest. I think the whole rendering thing is dumb, perhaps I don’t understand it.

I’m getting around 40-48fps at JFK, and was getting around 46-47 in the high-rise buildings around NY, everywhere else around NY was usually around 50-54 fps. This is with the Yellow Plane Cub, so I imagine with different aircraft that framerate will change a lot but I’m very happy with that personally.

At 2560x1440 resolution and the res scaling at 100%.

I have a 3600 and it’s all stuttery and sound is cracking and popping non stop on medium 1080p, with around 40-50fps.

It’s not great. It’s very CPU taxing for sure.

3700x, 2070 Super and 32Gb @3200.

Sim install on Samsung 970 Evo 1TB NVMe

Pretty similar to your specs.

1440p, mix on ultra and high I am getting:

Ground 45fps, 40 interior view (airliners)

Air, 60fps

Ai traffic off, multiplayer traffic on.

3700x with GTX 1080 running at 1440p: 40-45 fps at high setting and GA planes. Even above 30 fps with the jetliners flying in mid-size cities like San Francisco. I am very impressed with the performance of this sim.

Ultra with a few setting wound back as required (still playing with them) 1080p on a 62" TV. I sit back!

50 seen during game start
40-50 GA VFR
30-40 GA VFR Complex airfield
20-30 Airliners short final at Complex Airfield (When I want 50-60)

Overall I’m delighted, given this is not now a top spec PC. Very flyable.
I will upgrade my GPU when the RTX 3000s are out and that will be good for a year or two, untill I upgrade the mobo/cpu/ram.

Ryzen 7 3700x, 32 Gb Ram, 5700XT ==>40-50 FPS with High preset and 1080p.

Tested with New-York and Beijing so far.

I’m wondering if Data online is not part of the overall performance. For those of you who encounter poor performance, it may help to try offline.

My stats from earlier flying around Essex in the UK

3900X, 32Gb 3200Mhz, 2070 Super @ 1080p Ultra High settings. It runs smooth but I will probably adjust the settings as I don’t need all options set to Ultra.

Just updated my original post to give it a better layout with my current performance as well… thanks everybody who has replied so far.

Hi there, you are playing on a 62"? :stuck_out_tongue:
How does it goes, can u recommend that? Do you experience tearing?

:blue_heart:

Yes Render 100.

3700x, rx 5700xt, 16gb ddr 3200mhz, game on a m.2 sata drive, game settings on High 1080p

Same result with fps when fps are unlocked and no stutter at all. I locked my fps in radeon software at 32 fps with radeon chill so my gpu run cool and quiet and the game is smooth enough, 60fps is not necessary for FS2020

Just flown from KSMO (Santa Monica) with live weather and traffic fps is around 50-60 (locked at 60 via riva tuner) settings at ultra. Dips to 30-40fps if using offline traffic. 1080p ultrawide only
