Well…after 7 days of trying I finally managed to complete 2 flights in the Citation Longitude - I picked a relatively simple aircraft and one which had some reasonable reports from the 2020 version. No 1 flight was OK “ish” from EGLL to EGCC but wasn’t sure if the issues arising were down to me or the 2024 or the aircraft. So thought I’d try a second flight in the Microsoft home market on the US and using airports which have are most likely to receive a “special effort”- Las Vegas KLAS & Grand Canyon KGCN
Ha! So much for my logic!
Firstly KLAS - I picked a GA spot to start from (because I can’t figure out push back from a gate), on the Luxor side of the airport and taxi out southwards to a 01R departure - unbelievable!!! the taxiway rises up into a hill & the GA aircraft parked to right are on a 30 degree slope! Then my taxiway gets steeper until the aircraft grinds to halt and I have to apply full power to reach the hill top - the aircraft nearly topples sideways down the hill - but I just made it to the runway. Fits of giggles and I almost jack it in right there. However reason prevailed and I got underway without issue.
Secondly - En route. It took me a long time to figure out workable bindings for the autothrottle but once in the cruise I selected it & could see the throttle handles adjusting to try and achieve the target speed set in the FMS… but it wouldn’t settle - up and down whilst a continuous woman’s voice is calling “autothrottle autothrottle autothrottle”. Very distracting and couldn’t find a quick way of silencing her. I tried switching from FMS speed to manual speed but it wouldn’t hold the speed I set. This issue totally ruined the cruise.
KGCN - Made a decent approach & landing but whilst taxiing up the parking apron “new” parked aircraft kept appearing out of the ether! Not only that but there were deer/moose running loose around the parked aircraft!
CONCLUSIONS
It’s joke. I’m not wasting any more time on this sim. It’s not fit for purpose and in my opinion it should be withdrawn from sale immediately.
Existing owners should be refunded and/or given free access to the 2020 version.
I’ve been following the Youtube reviews and see that some regular contributors are trying to put a positive spin on things but it’s counter productive. This Sim is broke and it’s unfair to expect owners to become Beta Testers when they never volunteered to debug this for MS/Asobo.
It’s a very unprofessional way of bringing a product to market and every time I see those slick graphics on start up it winds me up even further.
YES the advertised features look great ! We all want them.
BUT please don’t advertise something you can’t deliver.
