Toolbar missing in VR

That’s exactly what worked for me - swiping the mouse up after pressing the binding button/key

As already been said:

A basic, REQUIRED function to play in VR- along with the EFB - yet somehow completely overlooked or not checked for even rudimentary function.

But “we all play in VR at MS/Asobo!!”

Sure.

Does anyone also have “Toggle EFB” sign in VR while walking outside? Cannot turn it off T_T

Now that you mention it, I had the Mouse interaction fail once also. Not sure what happened, but since then it has been fine again. ::face_with_raised_eyebrow: I hope that doesn’t turn into a regular gremlin, it was really annoying.

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged

Sad. As a 100% VR user, this is sad. Frustrating. I was looking forward to 2024. Glad I waited. Looks like I’ll keep using 2020 happily for several months until they get this stuff with VR sorted out. Just did a great flight in VR on VATSIM last night… so at least we still have 2020 to use until 2024 is actually ready.

as far as i can tell, in VR, the toolbar appears when i mouse over the area where it would be in 2D. and then i press the toggle button to make it disappear…: not sure if this is by design or a workaround

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes, same problem here. Sometimes it works, but most of the time not. Also not reproducible

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• MS FS 2024

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

With a key assignemnet named “Toggle VR Toolbar” it can not be by design.

For me, mouse interaction has been failing after going to the menus and coming back into the sim. Exiting then re-entering vr seems to fix it. One other use says that hitting ESC to into the menus and then hitting ESC again the leave the menu (without moving your mouse) gets mouse interaction to work again.

I have the same problem but its backwards. I can pull up the toolbar fine but I can’t get it to go away.

Same issue as OP. Pressing button assigned to VR - Toggle Toolbar does nothing when in VR. When exiting VR toolbar is completely missing. Makes career mode pretty much impossible in VR.

Like Silvera1657 reported, I’m getting the “Toggle EFB” text box when walking outside the aircraft. Haven’t figured out how to turn it off, either. I am able to toggle the main toolbar while in VR using ALT-T on my keyboard, though.

Same here. I payed the aviator version because I have been using fs2024 perfectly. Did some one in asobo tested or just checked these basic functions? Its incredible to charge 200$ for a game with such a big problems. Most of us are software developers and we would be fired if we released sw in these conditions.

I didn’t know about the key binding. But the tool bar appears some times with the mouse then normally when I want it it won’t. Also sometimes it will keep appearing if I look slightly up.

In my experience, it’s the “Resume” button in the menu that breaks everything. Mouse interaction and the toolbar work upon entering the sim. If I use the escape menu and then use the resume button, these break. As others state, if you escape out of the menu instead of using the resume button it seems to keep all functionality the majority of time.

Thanks, I’ll pay closer attention if it happens again and try both of those things. Somehow I got it back, I am not sure exactly what I did though. Very possible I did either of those though.

It works for me, as long as I don’t move the mouse in the menu after pressing esc. if I then hit esc again to go back in the cockpit it works again.

Thanks!

This was a good tip! I lost the ability a couple of times today to interact with the mouse in VR with AC controls. I found that the ESC to menus and hitting ESC again to come right back trick (without moving the mouse) consistently did restored the ability to interact. Slightly annoying, but now no big deal. My ESC button is really easy to find in VR, so this helped a lot.

OK, so I seem to have gotten the Toolbar to come up consistently by hitting the Tab button to bring up the EFB (in the Free Floating mode). The EFB is still useless in the free floating mode. However, if I hit my button on my yoke that I mapped to toggle the Toolbar a time or two while the mouse pointer is in or near the EFB in the middle of the screen, the toolbar comes up. At that point I can hit TAB again to get the uninteractable EFB to go away, and the button for toggling the Toolbar still works.

This worked for me first in the Caravan (which has an EFB on the suction cup on the side window). However, then I tried it in the TBM a couple of times (which is my favorite AC to fly for cross countries) and it did work. The only thing in the TBM was that the toolbar looked a little squished (like the aspect ratio was off).

NOTE: Someone else had suggested remapping the controls so that the primary and secondary slot for toggle the toolbar were set to the same thing (in my case a yoke button). So, I don’t know if this was a factor or not, as I want that mapping (Alt T is too hard for me to find in VR on my keyboard). So, this had been done already and didn’t seem to help at the time. However, it has been working consistently with the trick described above.

Hope this helps someone else.
