It’s then almost a stolen dlc with tom cruise for free .
Thank god.
Jorg was being pretty reserved about it at gamescom so this doesn’t surprise me & if they delay the DLC it won’t surprise me either.
Every disappointed TOP GUN fan should just buy DC Design’s awesomely-fun F-14A/B, put the original movie on in the background, and then bad-■■■ around SoCal at Mach 1.4, or transonic full-afterburner passes over the accompanying Miramar NAS scenery.
You’re right, they don’t actually shoot each other down. I don’t know the actual rules except for watching Top gun and that IMAX flick about Red Flag. I don’t know how they tally kills in those exercises but i suspect it’s along the lines if you got locked you’re dead.
We won’t have proper dogfighting because FS2020 is not a dogfighting simulator, it’s a flight simulator, with the main focus being flying. It would require an entirely separate system to be implemented into the game and i don’t know about you but there are MUCH bigger priorities than appeasing to a small subset of flight simmers.
Wanna shoot down your friends in full fidelity realism? Go play DCS or IL2
Personally, i think adding fighter jets to a game designed for civilian aviation (private and commercial) is not the best choice. Not saying we shouldn’t have them but I don’t think they should be any more functional than starting up, taking off, flying around and landing.
Maybe we can have civil-war style reenactments. 40 people on a discord recreating the Iraqi Air War literally over Iraq going “I got you you’re dead you have to land now you’re out dude”
I supported them by buying the game. Thanks.
Think how sad tom cruise can be knowing that you focus solely on a civil flight simulator, without the magnificence of a jet fighter he piloted and perfectly replicated on an excellent game.
Unacceptable.
I’m not exactly into trailer (for me this film is just nostalgia exploit, probably very poor movie) but isn’t f-18 capable of caring recon pod?
Yes, ATARS , advanced tactical airborne reconnaisance system .
Haha, so my memory isn’t as bad as I was thinking.
It is not really a “proper external wing pod” but more of a gradually integrated system ( increasingly integrated into the airframe) .

but I guess it’s things you already know

Stay on topic folks. No politics please.
Nooo! Was looking forward to this. Tom Cruise even insisted on acting from the cockpit because he wanted the effects of the g forces to be authentic!
As for the sim, I guess we’ll have to live with the F-14 and IFTE F-35… oh bummer (sarcasm).
Really looking forward to this movie. Prolly just stream it though. People still go to movies? =)
Source? Recent news still seem to confirm a Sept/Oct 2021 launch, e.g.:
No Time to Die trailer brings another taste of Daniel Craig's final James Bond outing - CNET
“After several delays due to the pandemic, the movie is scheduled to hit UK theaters on Sept. 30, with the US release happening Oct. 8.”

If not against forum rules to mention another product…
If you’re hankering for some F18 (or F14 or aircraft carrier) action, check out DCS World. The F18, F14 and SuperCarrier modules are highly detailed and fun. You also get to pull the trigger.
That may tide you over until Top Gun time.
That‘s so funny though… officially introducing weapon systems to the sim but leaving out the ammunition in order to avoid any violence
that‘s like pointing a Colt to someone‘s head but leaving out the rounds… for that reason
sometimes I just don‘t get it
Well, they don’t. That’s exactly the point here. You won’t see any missiles etc. attached to the wings, nor any guns sticking out of the aircraft (generally speaking).
The weapon is the aircraft… the missile is the ammunition. The only purpose of an F18 is to shoot missiles and that‘s the whole purpose of its cockpit. It‘s like releasing a pacifist family game aka Sims and let them trade with guns but leave out the ammo
that‘s so cynical
But I mean… leaving out the missiles and cannons, prohibiting politics and religion in the forum but advertising Top Gun, one of the least politic, least violent and least obcene movies in history with Stars and Stripes only in every second scene instead of EVERY and the main character being portraited by the leader of Scientology…
Seriously… that‘s funny in every sense
Well, you’re absolutely right ¯\__(ツ)_/¯
Of course it won’t. At Gamescom they even said they can’t reveal everything untill the movie is out
