Toprudder Ultralight is almost like a glider, really affected by ridge winds/lee/luv

I did not even remember the wind simulation on mountains is in the sim. I know my part of it from paragliding - luv will get you up, lee will get you down. Was flying in the Pyrenees around the area of Luchon (LFCB, 42,800513, 0,599543) and the region has really nice satellite image coverage and steep mountains. Did a few climbing flights there when I suddenly notice my toprudder gets hammered down and no matter what, I can not gain heightt anymore. That’s when I noticed lee/luv is in the sim. Did not notice when climbing because the toprudder has no instruments. Then did tests on luv sides close to rigdes and got lifted up really noticable in comparison to neutral or lee. This is good. It was 12knots and then I rotated wind direction around and really felt the difference. Most noticable on strong lee sides, it is literally like something is hammering your toprudder down with a hammer.

With proper headwind and a slope, you can hover over ground and balance it by adjusting rpm and rudder to head wind. This is so cool. You can almost do a vertical take off if you got enough skill. If you are on top of a real steep slope, you can stand still in the air.

I do not even try to climb lee mountain sides >10kts with the top rudder. I just go straight to the other side of the vally, take the luv elevator up and cross back over the valley. It’s like chess
