I purchased two Prechen 15.6" touchscreen displays. I have one up and running but there is an issue. In order to get the touchscreen functionality to work you have to make the Prechen 15.6" the primary display then the touches register on the correct screen.
However, I want to use two of these touchscreens. Is there a work around for the Prechen monitors or should I return them and buy two different touch screen monitors?
I would like to keep the 15" size, or maybe a little larger. 1080p is fine.
What does everyone recommend to accomplish this? Brands, etc.
There’s a few tricks to getting touch screens to work. I run 7 of them so it certainly is possible.
As mentioned, how are they being connection, you need the following;
Video Source (HDMI / Display Port)
Power Source (Typically USB C to the Wall or PC)
Touch Source (Typically USB C to the PC)
Once everything is connected, you need to tell Windows which screens are touch capable, and then you need to calibrate them.
Click on your start menu and type “Calibrate” and you will see the calibrate for pen or touch, select that.
Once in there, the first option you want to select is “Setup” this will help identify which screens are touch capable. Just follow the instructions on screen and work through each monitor.
Once that is complete, you need to select a monitor from the drop down, and then calibrate, do this for each touch screen, again follow the instructions on the screen to complete.
A few things that you may get hung up on;
Only 1 screen registers as a touch screen
The first thing to look at is how are the screens connected, if you have both screens using USB-C to your PC, try changing this. This is a common issue and allot of PC Motherboards don’t have the power to feed both touch screens via USB-C (mine included)
As a work around, I have the following;
Screen 1: HDMI to Display Port for video / USB-C to USB-C wall plug for power / USB-C to USB-C for touch
Screen 2: HDMI to Display Port for video / USB-C to USB-C for Touch / Power
By having one screen get it’s power from the wall plug, the system works
Sometimes after identify the screens as touch, only 1 shows up for calibration. Close the calibration tool and re-open.
Thanks for the great response! I really appreciate your help.
I am using Windows 11. When I type calibrate into the start menu there is no option for calibrate for pen or touch. There are some links to the web showing how this might work for windows 10 but not windows 11.
Just to clarify, both of my 15.6" touchscreen will be usable as a touchscreen if I can follow your guidance?
There have been previous issues using multiples of this brand of monitor. It was even confirmed by the manufacturers support that more than one is not supported. What you have may of course be a different model without this restriction but if you can’t get it to work after trying the tips here you should just return them and get a brand that someone else confirms as working in this setup.
I realise that this thread is months old now and what I have to offer may not be of use now. However someone may find it useful.
My experience with the Prechen 15.6” touchscreens setup was very frustrating. I eventually got both screens to work. Initially the Windows “PC Tablet “ option in control panel was not available or the “calibrate” option. So the system did not recognise that a touchscreen device was installed.
I had followed the instructions on the Prechen setup instructions to the letter. I could set up them up to be monitors but no touch screen functionality.
After many frustrating hours of web searching, software updates, cable swapping etc I decided to unplug everything and just plug in one Prechen monitor, HDMI and USBC cable. The Prechen instruction graphic clearly shows the USBC to USBA cable plugged into the monitor outlet closest to the HDMI port. I had followed this arrangement to the letter from the beginning.
Wrong. The USBC cable should be plugged into the port closest to the base of the monitor. Once that happened the “PC Tablet” option in control centre became available after which installation and calibration of the touchscreen monitors went to plan. So recognition of the device by Win11 is the first step.
