Track IR defaults to ON

Since going to 1.21.18.0 when I go into the camera dialog on a flight, the “Track IR” is always ON. Sometimes when I Esc-Exit and then Resume, it’s back on again. I’ve check all of my controllers and none have “Toggle Head Tracking” assigned. Before the latest update this was not happening. I don’t have any Track IR hardware or software on my PC. Any suggestions?

The latest Hotfix contained a fix for TrackIR as it was broken with the SU7 release. Essentially, anytime the communication was broken (line of sight between head and TrackIR unit) it would switch TrackIR off and we’d have to toggle it back on.

As well Pause no longer worked.

The Hotfix addressed this issue and that is why you are seeing it turned on.

Do I have this right?

  1. Henceforth the default in MSFS is TrackIR = On, even if you don’t have TrackIR.
  2. There is no setting to make the default TrackIR=Off (even by editing a file).
  3. Even if you turn TrackIR off, MSFS may spontaneously turn it back on.

I guess the question is, if you don’t have TrackIR, what is the reason / requirement to turn it off?

I was assuming that with it on code would be consuming resources and cpu cycles, but maybe that is a bad assumption. :o)

I think you are probably safe just leaving it on
