TrackIR freeze view auto-snaps to forward view after 2-3 secs

Whenever I freeze my trackIR view, my cockpit camera view snaps back to the forward default view after about 2-3 seconds. I’m freezing it to look at instruments, input stuff into the Garmin, etc… it would be nice if I could disable this auto-snap because it makes it hard to use TrackIR this way. I freeze my view in DCS sim to look at a panel while I’m working and it helps A LOT. Thanks.

I thought this was an issue of track ir. Thank you for mentioning the DCS behavior.

Same issue. Does anyone have a work around? Or is there a way to turn off view reset in cockpit?

No, it’s definitely an MSFS issue, not a TrackIR issue. TrackIR doesn’t work like that in any other title.

Setting it to Freeze should FREEZE the display, not jump back and forth between different directions.

Interestingly… I get the exact same behavior (auto-snapping) in AeroFly, but not in DCS. Basically… just seems like those programs are detecting the TrackIR freeze as a loss of input. Just a guess

Support is saying this may be fixed with the new version released today. The issue hasn’t been resolved on my system, however, the symptoms are different. It seems like the pause holds longer than it did before but then still switches back to the center position.

Is anyone else still having the problem, or noticed the difference since upgrading?
Support said I may need to uninstall the game and reinstall again. Has anyone done that with the new version and still have the issue?

Thanks in advance for you input.

It happens to me, and its not fix as of update released 9/2/2020. The only work around is right click and drag after it snaps back forward. that will allow you to move the camera to where you want to look while TIR is frozen. After you unfreeze TIR you have to get the camera back to the default views or it will not go back to normal again.

No difference since upgrading…

“Pausing” TrackIR works great in XPlane 11. You don’t need bind a key/button in TrackIR for pause. Instead, there is a “command” in XPlane 11 specifically for toggling TrackIR input on and off. If you toggle the input off, you effectively get the pause functionality.

My personal workaround for this issue:

  1. bind pause within TrackIR to the ‘push’ function of the slew control on Thrustmaster Warhog Throttle.

  2. Bind the same push action in MSFS to ‘Save Custom Camera View 0’.

  3. I then bind slew control up and left both to ‘Load Custom Camera View 0’.

This allows me to almost get the effect I need.

This is how you use this workaround. You have two choices.

Choice 1. Hit the push action to pause TrackIR input. The current view is saved. Wait for 10 seconds for MSFS to reset your view. Then hit slew control up, or left, to go back to your paused (saved) view.

Choice 2. Hit the push action to pause/save. Immediately hit that slew control. You get to a strange view (recorded view applied twice it seems). Hit that slew control one more time to get back to your desired paused view.

I ran into this problem too. Instead of pausing TrackIR, I worked around the problem by setting a deadzone in the yaw and pitch curves. That way, when I’m looking at the panel, small head movements don’t make the view drift around and the buttons/knobs are easier to hit with the mouse. You can make a deadzone by dragging the center curve point, and the ones next to it, to the bottom of the graph (see screenshot). Then rearrange the other points to make the curve smooth again. Don’t forget to save the profile. The deadzone doesn’t really detract from the functionality of TrackIR for me. I made it small enough that I can still easily look around, but it helps a lot with clicking on the panel.

Has the latest release fixed this issue for everyone. I still have the issue…

No. It’s too bad.

The last patch resolved this issue. Thank you FS team

Yeah. I, too, confirm that this has been fixed.

Closing, as user reports indicate that this was fixed in World Update 1.
